WSH GM George McPhee fired Bruce Boudreau this morning. Dale Hunter is the new head coach. Will be at practice this morning.
He gone.

Good move in both aspects. BB needed to go and I think brining in Hunter is a very solid move.

To clarify, I don't think changing coaches is the wrong move necessarily. But Hunter strikes me as a tremendous risk and I don't know if the team can afford to take it right now.

I don't know anything about Hunter so I'm unsure if he's the man to take over.

BB had talented teams that didn't win championships. However, he did win SE division championships, and he helped guide the Caps to the playoffs after Hanlon was fired.

Good luck to him in the future. Now it's time to find someone who can help the Caps take the "next step" towards the EC Finals, or a SC.

Well, I hope BB squirreled away enough while he was on top. Good luck to him in the future. Is Jeff going to be traded soon?

As an STH, have to give a big tip of the cap to Boudreau for his time here, as frustrating as it was at times. He made this team relevant again and made it, above all, fun to watch (usually).

Now GMGM, please don't let the Avs hire him until this summer.

If you want you can do the research yourself on all his other playoff outs.
No thanks, I will just trust George. I thought you did too.

Now if you find it lame that Boudreau got fired at all, you must be hoping we gut the team and that still might happen at some point, who knows.

New thread time. A New Hope, as suggested by someone on here earlier.

MacTavish maybe? True that the market was very thin though, unless/until the Ducks decide to part ways with Carlyle (if they'd even do that after apparently giving him a big extension).
