we usually dont get them up here. we had a bad one a few years ago that killed a woman but usually its just the severe thunderstorms. we are going from near 90 today to the mid 60s tomorrow. So I guess its a strong enough front.

Pretty ridiculous how many strong tornadoes there have been already. There have been four EF5's (>200 mph winds); the last one was in 2008, and there have only be 57 confirmed EF5's in the US since 1950.
Yeah, it's nuts. I don't think I'd want to live in the deep south. If you survived Katrina, didn't get soaked in oil at the beach, or didn't have your house washed away by flooding...you still have to spend every other day dodging a freaking tornado.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'd be able to live there. That's also a reason why, no matter how well off I was, I would never be able to buy property in the Caribbean. Even if you don't have a hurricane hit the island, you still deal with storm surge ****ing up your day.

The river video is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Any word on how Massachusetts is handling it? I can't imagine that they've had a tornado in the past few decades at least.

they had one in 2008. I know the giv has declared a disaster area for the areas affected. 5 other tornados touched down in surrounding towns. They have brought in the National Gaurd to help out with rescue efforts. The Boston Globe is reporting damage to 19 towns in southern mass.
Of course there is the idiots who are taking advantage of this situation and are looting. Those people should be shot on site.
