What would anybody offer for him? I am looking at a pick or prospect. No room for him. Entering last year on contract.

I'd offer one of those sugar covered donuts. You know, the kind that are left after all the boston creme and jelly filled ones that everyone likes are already gone.

That's interesting, because I heard the sugar covered ones were Burke's favorite!

Markov, Yemelin, Gorges, Weber, Subban, Diaz and we will most likely sign one of Gill or Hamrlik or Wisniewski. So year, not enough room. Plus I'd rather spend the money towards a WIZ contract.

He's barely worth more than a bag of pucks. Best bet would be at the trade deadline, where he will be worth most, provided that he doesn't suck more than he did this season.

Komisarek for Spacek.

Then the Leafs send Spacek to the minors, and the habs can re-unite Markov and Komi.

I'd do this, if the Leafs add Carl Gunnarsson and a 4th or 5th rounder(to counter balance three years vs one). Also you can't send Spacek to the minors, 35+ contract. There would be no trouble trading Spacek if he didn't have that, and we could easily send him to the minors.

^I'm pretty sure the 35+ rule only applies to retirement. If you send the guy down and he plays in the A his cap hit doesn't count. But of course being sent down at 35 y/o you're even more likely to retire.

Cap hit does count even in the AHL on a 35+ contract

Komisarek is both a worse defenseman and a much larger salary liability than Spacek. So a big fat no. Columbus for a late rounder could work if there isn't a better offer. Its not like Spacek is a bad player or even particularly overpaid, its just that Montreal has better options.

Yes, yes he is. And the 35+ contract makes it worse.

If CLB is offering a 6th, you should drive Spacek to the airport by police escort and get him on the first plane out before they change their minds Personally i woulda made it Commodore + a 6th (similar contracts, but you can leave him in AHL)

Otherwise, i'd see something like Spacek for smaller dump or Spacek for Bigger dump+ (Komi and a pick for example i like from a T.O perspective)

A conditional pick. A 2012 6th-rounder if he doesn't play 60 games on the big team next year, 5th-rounder if he does.

To me this makes sense from a cbj standpoint. If he's paired with methot then methot gets to play his preferred side.
Arniel mentioned that was a huge thing at the iihf. So we get a vet to play alongside methot as well as the above.
Would like to see commodore go back to Habs but could live with iit as is.

No can do. He is on a 35+ contract. That means no AHL.

The problem is that the left side of the ice is also Spacek's preferred side. Less good.

He could be used to good effect on the team, but he'd be a second or third resort IMO.

lol

Like it or not, Spacek is with us for next season. There's no guarantee we keep any of Gill/Hammer/Wiz.

If you want Commodore + 6th round pick vs Spacek, I'm ok as a Habs fan. The problem with Spacek isn't the player, he is a good #4-5 d-man with lots of leadership and a big heart. He is good defensively when he doesn't play more than 20 minutes vs top lines. He can play on a 2nd PP unit. But the problem is the salary cap. The Habs need money to sign or trade for a top-6 foward and Wisniewski.
