They weren't top contenders until 2008-09. Before that, they were trendy picks but they were pretenders due to a lack of depth. 2005-06 and 2006-07, they had no top defenseman and in 2007-08, they were a fringe playoff team until they got Brian Campbell. In 2008-09, they were doomed when the playoffs started due to a ridiculous amount of injuries. Then the next two seasons, they went to the conference finals.

Every year when the Sharks choke in the playoffs, we have a similar thread to this one, and nothing ever comes of it (aside from Heatley i guess). They simply are stuck with what they have.

Heatley isn't going anywhere with his NT and terrible contract so he stays.

Big Joe has turned the page IMO and he's been their best player, plus he has a clause as well, so he's not going anywhere.

Marleau could be moved but didn't they just sign him to an extension? I can't remember if they gave him w NT or not.

I think DW would definitely want to hang onto Clowe, Boyle, Logan, Murray, and Pavelski so they aren't going anywhere.

The only players I see them moving to maybe "shake things up" would be Seto, Vlasic, and maybe (but doubtful) Marleau. They simply can't do a big shakeup with some of the contracts they have.

I know the Sharks wouldn't be crazy about moving a player to the Ducks but what about:

Vlasic for Sutton, 2nd, and average prospect like Mitera? Close? No way?

Wasn't Sutton a healthy scratch through most of the season?

I could see a deal with the Thrashers/Jets involving Bogosian and one of Marleau/Thornton...

Marleau would make a lot of sense for the "Jets". He's a Sask product, and the Jets are going to be aggressive in going after fans in SASK, Northern Ontario and the bordering U.S Northern states...

SJ could use a big body top-pairing Dman, and if they can move a big contract without taking much salary back, it would help them improve their bottom-6/bottom-4 depth.
The "Jets" badly need a top-line centre to pair with Kane (who is going to be a star in no time).

Something like:

To SJ
Bogosian
2011 2nd

To "Winnipeg"
Marleau
Braun

or if the Jets marketing department really has management's ear...

To SJ
Bogosian
Klinberg or Cormier
2011 1st
2011 2nd

To Winnipeg
Marleau (Sask)
Pavelski (Wisconsin)
Braun (Minn)

The Sharks management likes Braun, so I don't realistically see them trading him.

Leafs will take the horrible contract of heatley if you add pavelski seriously I'd do that without adding komisarek. Do it! Please?

Mitchell and Vlasic for Cogliano, Smid and a 3rd? I think that's pretty decent value.

What could Edmonton offer to get ahold of a guy like Pavelski? Gagner, a solid prospect,+ high draft pick?

I don't want any of the real names.

I want Scott Nichol and Ben Eager.

Marleau has this no-movement clause. Doug Wilson has long held the principle that players with those clauses aren't asked to waive them. So unless DW is canned, Marleau is staying put. Same goes for Thornton, Heatley, Boyle (until 2012), and anyone else he decides to give the clauses to.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Heatley shouldn't have a Ntc or Nmc because he waived when he was a sen, thought that waived it for good

Moving Heatley, at this time, is easier said than done. Just by watching regular season and playoff games, while ignoring stats, Heatley is a shell of the $7.5M player that got that contract. He simply looks disinterested in playing and winning. It sucks because when the Sharks visited Ottawa this past year Heatley was one of the best players on the ice despite not scoring. He can be dangerous, but he chooses not to fork out the effort to be.

Get rid of your huge sense of entitlement, its pathetic and gives the rest of the Rangers fans a bad name (for those who actually know that you are a Rangers fan).

IF you don't like what you see, then leave.Or at the very least don't ***** to get the thread shut down because you disagree with everything here. Make a useful post that contributes to the thread.

Pavs, Couture, Thornton, Clowe offers in this thread.

most of the guys everyone wants arent going anywhere. out of the big guys, i'd say there's a small chance Heatley leaves. that's about it. we're looking at some tweaks, nothing major.
