Gomez is 31, Rolston was 35 when he signed him. Pretty big difference there. I'm willing to bet that this was an anomaly season for Gomez. If anything his skillset (vision, passing, etc.) should last a while.

Blocking Josefson is probably my biggest concern with this would-be move.

And Gomez is bad defensively, what?
I got to watch a lot of Habs games this year and I thought he was horrible defensively. It looked like he was coasting around the defensive zone and always chasing the puck. It just seemed like he always had bad positioning. Maybe my memory sucks, but that's what I remember.

Ah fair enough. He was solid during his tenure here. But its been 4 years removed. He had a pretty horrible season overall, so maybe he was just disinterested out there.

He's a *****, but if he comes in and produces 50/60 points from the 2 hole, then its worth the hit.

I hate to use this because sometimes it's stupid, but I got to see him play a lot this year since I get cbc. I thought he was horrible all season. And like I said, my friend who is a diehard Habs fan hates Gomez. I think hes best days are long gone and it would be a huge mistake to do something like this if it was presented.

Edit- I just realized I may have kind of repeated myself. Sorry, my brain is kinda mush right now.

Where's the option "I would give up my season tickets if I saw him in a Devils jersey again"?

Let Josefson play his way into the spot. And save the money for a defensive upgrade either this offseason or next.

Gomez's defense isn't that good either. Putting him with Kovy would be good on offense (if Gomez still has it, which I don't think he does) and awful on D. Not worth 3.7 million. I'm glad he walked away for his pay day.

No it isn't but his effort is horrendous which in turn can make his defensive play terrible.

I'm not defending Gomez past this post, but I can safely say that if Gomez was giving that effort on D as a Devil still that we would all be saying he is fine on D and there's nothing to worry about. Holy run on

It's something you think about when one of our top centers goes down for the season. As of this moment, we do not need him on our roster. So if Zajac, Elias, or possibly Josefson get Zach type injuries next season then you consider Gomez, but then you have to think about the remaining years of the contract.

It's a solid no.

His skills might last but does he give a **** anymore? I wouldn't want to take that risk. I'd rather dump Zubrus and Clarkson and invest in the defence and our next goalie.

Of all the retreads that anyone could think of....

Claude was a good retread. I don't think Scott would be.

Zubrus still has value, but he still has value to this team as well. Clarkson played his value down this past season, so unless someone bites nicely I don't see him going anywhere.
