the only way the wings trade up for Larsson is if he starts drastically falling down the draft board. I don't believe he'll make it past the Avs at 2 but if for some reason he does, NJ will gladly take him at 4. Basically if the Wings want to trade into the top 4 it's going to cost probably a lot more than they're willing to give up.

No, they take the cap space and target Brad Richards...replace Rafalski internally with a dman...

That's interesting because usually Detroit uses its farm system for its forwards and goes out and gets its dmen. Kronwall is the last really successful defensman that has risen through the ranks in Detroit, and he was drafted 11 years ago.

Brendan Smith and/or Jakub Kindl could change that, but not yet.

Nashville would match an offer anyway, and, Detroit won't pay him more than Lidstrom or Zetterberg.

So, it's dead. Let it die.
well since lidstrom currently isnt a red wing i cnat see him not being the top paid player an issue.

no, detroit wont get weber but they wuold be smart to make offer sheets to weber, then doughty, then suter, then burns in hopes of landing one.

detroit has never not spent to the cap ceiling and with close to 20 million dollars to spend, they will be this summers biggest spenders..

So would A LOT of players, heck I bet even if Bouwmeester played for Detroit, he would be a potential Norris candidate.

Suter and Burns are under contract next season, then they become UFAs.

Maybe it is just me, but Ken Holland doesn't strike me as a GM who would sign anyone to an offer sheet.

I agree with the first sentence but just to add to the latter, Nashville or Detroit could easily be moving divisions/conferences which makes this .001% more plausible.

Wings will target Ehrhoff this year then use Nick's money for Suter next year. 2012 Wings D-men will be;

Suter - Kronwall
Stuart - Ehrhoff
Kindl - Smith

Lidstrom is going to retire with Rafalski, but they won't go after Weber. They don't do business like that, they will go after UFA defensemen hard. Whomever's available on July 1st.

Of course no one knows for sure but Lidstrom, no question he's still one of the best out there. He just said the last couple of years have been tough on him, so I'm assuming he's retiring is all.
