Raffi Torres on the open market

He's making $1 million dollars this season. What do you think he can fetch if he makes it to July 1st?

1 year, 1.4 million dollars. He'll get 100K per goal.

I would say he'd get around 1-1.75m. He's a great energy guy suited for the 3rd/4th line. Very physical when he wants to be and can also chip in some offense. He's streaky as hell though so expect a flurry of offense then a gigantic cold streak.

I hope the Canucks can lock him up for 2-3 years on similar terms to what he got this year. He's streaky, but he's one of those players that'll always be worth it to have in the playoffs. 3 years, 4M or so would be solid.

I hope that Anaheim could get Torres. We need some bottom 6 scoring...

i'd love his presence on the flyers in a 3rd or 4th line checking role with betts and powe.

I could see Torres getting a lot more money than he should if he makes it to Unrestricted Free Agency.

I mean, compare him to Colby Armstrong. Torres is considerably smaller (2") and a year older, but he had the exact same amount of points Armstrong did going into last year's free agency. He might not be defensively as good as Armstrong, nor bring the same intangibles, so I don't expect him to get upwards of $3 million like Armstrong.

But the main question about him last summer was his attitude and conditioning after the whole Buffalo fiasco, which was the main reason the Canucks got him for so cheap. I'd say playing a regular role and contributing for the #1 team in the NHL has erased those questions and he'll have quite a few teams interested in him. As an Oiler fan, I also know he has the penchant to disappear for long stretches so, personally, I wouldn't really want him.

I see Torres getting upwards of $2.1-$2.5 million (Maybe as high as $2.75) per season on a three year deal with a team looking to add some physicality to its lineup. Someone like the Canadiens.
