Please don't take offense to this, it's nothing personal...but I like to keep a healthy skepticism when it comes to internet rumours from first time posters.

If you're right, I apologize in advance.

I'd like to trust you, but must respectfully decline. :-) Sorry...

I do however think Nedved will sign wherever he's going to early next week. He's been honeymooning, his agent's been fielding offers and now that they're all on the table it's a matter of the two of them sitting down, going over them all and deciding which one is most enticing.

I say he signs no later than Wednesday--no source, just an educated guess.

That's all well and good guys, but if we can't keep Nedved, we could always trade Smyth for three of the best young players in the league... you know, kinda like heninfan proposed http://forum.calgaryflames.com/viewtopic.php?t=20180&postdays=0&postorder=asc&sta rt=0]here with Iginla:

To Calgary
Heatley
Kovalchuk (sp?)

So sad... you give a guy the benefit of the doubt once... if he fudges up with reports like that, then you go off on him....

It's like the goon here... he relayed to us some good info, without links or anything, and it's fine as long as you have a history of being right.

Meh, I'm indifferent to these "insider" reports. They're interesting to read but I seldom put much stock into them. On the other hand, I don't usually slam the author because every once in a while these scoops are correct and I hate eating crow..

To be honest I think OutKast has turned a new leaf... he's much more constructive with his post of late.

I know two guys who work for the oilers in the management department---the owners want to sign Nedved--but MONEY is the problem. It is no secret that the oilers owners want him back--but not at the money he wants

That's strange because Nedved's agent said that preliminary discussions regarding dollars between the two sides were not that far apart. I cannot see any team offering him more than 3.5M, and I can't see the Oilers offering anything less than 3.2M. The Oilers are in the neighbourhood. If he wants to stay, he'll stay, and he won't take any big financial hits, IMO.

If bonuses are tied to team success, it may not be that big a problem. Additionnal playoff money can be used to pay for the bonuses. Even if bonuses are tied to performance, if Nedved meets the targets, there is a good chance the Oilers would be in the playoffs.

To be honest in this case, I'm not even concerned about the money. I'm more concerned about him playing in a bigger market.
