Too unrealistic?

Yes, too unrealistic...

Richards won't happen;
Markov has a higher possibility of happening, and I think this is actually the best move on this post, but I still think he stays in MTL;
Eakin on the 2nd line? Are you that confident in him?
We're now starting Beagle over Gordon? Why even resign Gordo then?
I'm almost 100 percent sure Laich will get more than 3.25.
Counting on Orlov to be a starter is pushing it

Keep in mind Azlner is due for a raise, and others such as Carlson, Johansson and one of the goalies that emerges as the starter will be due for them eventually. Not to mention if Green has a great year, he'll be looking for a big paycheck next year.

So, the Bryzgalov-to-the-#Caps rumors presist. The info is allegedly being leaked through someone close to him. Take with a grain of salt.

Why take for free what you can gladly pay for later!

No way GMGM's pride allows him to trade for Bryz.

He's a UFA.

Still wouldn't make much sense though.

Bryz is coming to the Caps like Volchenkov was coming. I didn't see the entire Wings/Dogs series, but I saw enough to at least get the impression that Bryz was horrid. Neuvirth as a rookie seemed on more solid ice. Did not the Red Wings score early the first goal in every game and were there not several really soft goals against?

nice shot at mcphee.

now...do you think mcphee should sign bryz? his cap hit will require the caps to remove a multi-million dollar player. his term will make any of the young goalies ineffectual.

on the goalie subject is the caps direction needing that big of a change? i dont see it

Had a quick chat with #Caps' RFA Varlamov. He said so far there has been no word from the Caps re: new contract.

Weird if the idea is that we are keeping him no?

I think that he's going to be traded.

He may just be waiting to see if they're willing to accept the qualifying offer, too.

Why the **** would the Caps consider bringing in a vet goalie when they have a young #1 who is the least of their problems and multiple #2s?

Trading Varlamov I could see McPhee doing.

He acts like a jilted lover when anyone tries to work him as Varly's agent did earlier this year and that bridge may be a little toasty.

precisely. Varly doesn't have arbitration rights, I'm pretty sure, and the goalie market is dead, so I wouldn't worry about an offer sheet.

He's got better than average leverage if he really is willing to go the KHL route, but yeah, they shouldn't be worried about it to the extent that they overplay their hand this early. I thought I had read an interview of his that said he'd likely be fine with his QO anyways.

I mean it'd be one thing if he were in line for a multi-year extension; that you might want to do early, I suppose. But I don't see that happening this offseason.

lets immediately jump to the conclusion that the leak from the agent is the facts.

last offseason there were numerous reports that the caps were after volchenkov even after mcphee said he had no interest in "that player".

If McPhee signs Bryz, then there are more changes coming. So, dont jump to the other conclusion that Bryz signing is a sign of McPhee fail.

I'd bet that making cap room for Bryz would mean trading Semin. That would have you dancing in the streets.

It all makes sense now. Semin is a bad citizen so they get rid of him. They use the money to sign Bryz, but they have to bring in a new goalie coach to fit his needs! Foolproof!

You can say this is speculation, but someone who I check-in with once in awhile to about hockey said that this was the package for Semin from the Islanders earlier this year: Both teams agreed and their owner nixed it. You don't have to believe me but I trust this guy.
Blake Comeau, Josh Bailey, Islanders #1 2011, Maybe Roloson for Semin and Prospect.

So Semin certainly does have value. We'll see what happens, if something ACTUALLY happens for once.

No

And it's not a shot, it's who gmgm is.

Wrt linearity, I think gmgm can handle more than one contract at a time. There could be a myriad of reasons why there's been no contact, including pissing you off and because he doesn't like BB!

Gotta say if this rumor has any legs, how far off perceived of team needs are all of us here vs. what it would mean George/Bruce felt the team needs are? Goalie?!!? Really....has anyone been clamoring for a vet #1 goalie with the 3 guys we have?
