But its more than more practicing, less country clubbing. Its what they practice. heck I could argue practice less may help since more practices will probably lead to an even more discombobulated offense and PP. The players look lost on offense, no chemistry, set plays, basic plays. All about, center cover for Sarge! Go pinch Sarge, go.
We need a new voice at least offensively. Scrap the playbook, if there is one.
And its high time to let our defensive defensemen be just that, and end their offensive zone foray's which are obviously not getting the offense going. Derailing it actually.Does he really expect offense from Alzner Hannan and Erskine pinching so much? Fail. When down a few goals sure, when the forwards cant get it done. All game? Wake up bruce.
In Kolbe voice, here comes erskine down left wing, he scores!!! If Bruce is counting on that regularly, he needs to abort his vision. I would rather have our centers trying to score, and our defensive D men, defend. Do all our centers practice 3 on 2 drills, on D?
Closer to 3 downies if not 4. We need 4 guys moved out that are fun to play against, and replaced with 4 guys that are not fun to play against.
Maybe 5.
It could all be what Bruce is asking of the guys, or not asking. So just by moving him to Hollywood may be a lot easier to try first. See if a simple coaching change can get a lot more out of the players before making more numerous changes. Anyone can hit, clean the crease, be a dick. Even Sarge. But not if they ignore the coach.
So, all we did was basically was lose to a #5 seed this year and an #8 seed last year.
So how good are we really??
Not that good, changes need to be made. Plain and simple.
If you don't think so, then what seed to we lose to next year?
You act as if seeding is significant after the playoffs start. It isn't. Once the playoffs start, all it means is that you get to start out each shift with matched lines and put your stick in last on the draw 4 out of 7 games (if it goes that far).
How good are we? I can say with absolute confidence, after flubbing the puck and barely getting a shot on net as the last shooter in the shootout this morning, that I am terrible. Hopefully you're better than I am. How good are they? Good enough to win a whole lot more than they lose in the regular season. It's not the skill or talent on the Capitals that is lacking.
Changes need to be made? Because keeping the same guys and same coach and same GM automatically means the same results? Because bringing in new guys/coach/GM automatically means different results? Not that I'd be sad if changes were made, but that is not a reason to make changes.
What seed do they lose to next year? Hopefully none. But it's a shame to see that attitude. If no "changes" are made, are you really writing off the season before a single game is played?

Total cliche, but the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results... So yes, change is needed

The Caps finished with 107 points this year and Tampa 103. Over 82 games do you really see 4 points meaning anything as far as the quality of the teams is concerned? Not a chance.
33 points the year before? Yeah that meant something and a lot but 4 points this year meant nothing.

Are you trying to mitigate the sweep? Tampa was also on par with Pittsburgh and Boston and they put up much more of a fight. By all intensive purposes we should of been the better team, we've owned them the past two seasons, we had a chip on our shoulder after last years debacle, we added veteran leaders. Yet we got outclassed, outcoached, outworked(whatever your preference is) in the playoffs.

So your fine with the regular season stats? That meant a lot come playoff time as it does every year with this team. This team is suppose to be derived from talent (Ovy, Backstrom, Green, Semin and so on), we got the same results with the likes of Miller, Druce, Carpenter, Garner, Hunter, Pivonka, but atleast we knew the Caps of old, played their hearts out with less talent. It would actually be nice to see this team try it every game instead of when they felt like because talent alone will not take you to the promise land.
How are you not a TML fan? Your eternal optimism would fit right in
what does that have to do with anything? rh, likes flyers hockey. he likes beating and banging. he likes fighting and more of it. there's nothing wrong with that, but its sure a steady diet of his posts that the caps need more head busting in the lineup. this last post suggesting they need as many as 5 steve downie type players.
i think its been established the caps as a franchise suck. leonsis sucks. mcphee sucks. boudreau sucks. many of the players suck. add it up and it adds up to sucks.

thats the new theme here. the caps suck.
It's the offseason in may.... So there's nothing to talk about except who sucks.
Getting excited about some good prospects playing in juniors just doesn't cut it anymore.

What ballpark do you guys expect Alzner's next contract to be in?
Has to at least be worth as much as Poti. I say $3 million. At the very least he was racking up major minutes as well as being expected to take on many teams top forward lines.

He was being sarcastic.Try not to be so over dramatic.
I hate the flyers and I hate flyers hockey. Last I saw Downie played a clean game against us and probably against Boston too. His regular season antics is just entertainment for a long ass boring regular season. He seems like a regular in their lineup, a mix of talent and grit. Something this team sorely lacks. We go for talent alone and keep getting punked in the playoffs.
Here let me make your month and keep you busy, all we need is more fighting.
