So, um, I don't exactly follow much political or judicial happenings; but how exactly did that jury find that Casey Anthony chick not guilty?

I have no idea. I'm so sick of the national news obsession over crimes involving pretty white girls. Guarantee if she was black this would be a blip on the radar. Same thing with Laci Peterson, Natalie Halloway, etc.

I will however have an epic dinner picture tonight...steak, asparagus, potatoes, various sauces all from scratch, and very nice bourbon.

Yeah, I haven't followed it very close, but it seemed pretty obvious it wasn't an accident. There was a lot of lying and story telling on her end toward investigators. Not sure how she didn't at least get some kind of charge for telling police one thing and then her defense claiming another.

No frickin' idea. This is OJ for the new millennium. If the situation were the same and Anthony wasn't a decent-ish looking white girl, it would've been a guilty verdict undoubtedly. The evidence was incredibly overwhelming. I thought it was going to be an open-and-shut murder trial if there ever was one. I'm gonna watch Nancy Grace later just so I can see her have a stroke on live TV.

She did. From CNN:

Quote:
[Updated at 2:20 p.m.] Casey Anthony has been found guilty of four counts of providing false information to law enforcement in the case of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, who was slain in 2008.

Just try to convince me that's not a "I just got away with it.." face.

The OJ verdict was the right one. Do I think he did it? Absolutely, but under the rules of the US justice system, there was never any chance that he should have been convicted. The prosecution botched that case so bad that had he gone to prison, it would have been an extreme miscarriage of justice.

As for the Casey Anthony decision, I have no idea what arguments were put forth, and what the facts in the case were. I do know that the US media believes everyone is guilty until proven innocent, but that's because stories saying "she probably didn't do it" aren't as exciting and eye-catching, so it's in the media's best interest to only report things that make the defendant look bad.

Just saw all the news on the trial. My take on stuff like this is to leave it up to the jury. They are the people who have seen and heard all the evidence about what may or may not have happened.

Uh oh. Nancy Grace is still saying Casey is a killer, murderer of her own child, etc. If she keeps it up, Casey won't have to ever get a job to support her three years lost of hard partying, because Nancy will be writing her a big fat check.

Meh, I'll go with the jury. They know better than any of us do. I sure as hell would hate to have my son killed and then be put on trial for it with the American public just assuming I did it.

Not to steal your thunder, but my buddy just won $1,000,000 on a scratchoff while we were at the Cubs/Nationals game. I'm seriously still in shock...even have a pic of the card to prove it.

Any chance I could borrow a few hundred bucks from him to get my car fixed and pay my internet bill?

Congrats

Seriously if it was mine I would be taking you all out for Manny's or something completely on me but its his payday and I'm just glad to have been with him to get it. He's had probably one of the hardest lives ever and definitely deserves it. Tomorrow will be a fun day of trying to figure out what he and his wife (who is from MN) need to do. He's also military so a whole diff. ballgame right there. We took the metro to the game too that was fun thinking everyone was out to kill us

Riding the bus to Vikings games was always an interesting experience (this coming from a young white male from South-Central MN, and a town of 15,000)

I remember hearing some guy try to rap over his cell phone

Anyone have any advice on how to start skating backwards? I just can't seem to get a good grasp on how to start well enough to even practice.
