Agreed. Of course they are going to outsell all other Canadian franchises when they just come into existence. That's because Jets fans don't have their gear yet. As of next year the other franchises will either equal or outsell the Jets again due to sheer number of fans.

While I don't think they'll merit the name "Canada's team," I do think the Jets are the type of team the country could rally around during a playoff run, kind of like what happened to Edmonton in 2006. I think they'll be a fairly easy team to wish well for.

I didn't see this link in yesterday's or today's news roundup: http://oilers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=586002

The focus is on OKC, but I found the last bit interesting:

Quote:
While Helmer patiently waits for the start of training camp (September), he has been spending time with his family and has the Edmonton Oilers’ organization to thank for a great summer.

"We went to Disneyland, compliments of Edmonton. It was good. It was a lot of fun. It was four nights, five days. It was great. The kids loved it, (my wife and I) loved it too. It was a lot of fun. It was probably one of the nicest things that an organization ever did for me in my hockey career. It was really nice that they did something like that and we definitely enjoyed ourselves."
Nice to see the organization looking to strengthen itself in this way

let see how things are in a few years if they are in the bottom of the league like the thrashers had been. Lets see how happy fans are to throw good money after bad on a losing product

You've always doubted Winnipeg though. You were adamant they would never get a team back. You were wrong.

I don't know. Nobody hates Winnipeg yet, none of the Canadian teams have a rivalry with them at all.

So they are probably Canada's least hated team, thus Canada's team.

Really interested in how Barker will do. He's been disappointing in the last few years but he's 25, a lot of dmen don't hit their stride until 25+ so we just might have a gem here.

Yeah, lots of positive feelings from every other fanbase towards Winnipeg right now.

It'll pass in a couple years.
