I don't know Bryan, I somehow think they'd call Bulin to come give them a hand or at least be their dd.

I'd be interested to say where Erixon would fall in the group of D prospects this year

As per ISS (Just D prospects)

1. Larsson
2. Dougie
3. D. Murphy
4. Klefbom
5. Siemens
6. Beaulieu
7. Oleksiak
8. C. Murphy
9. Brodin

This is the ISS list updated may 30th, not my own opinion

http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=36721

Where do you think Erixon would fall in this list.

the scouting profile here has him rated as a 7.5 B

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/tim_erixon

personally i think He is top 5 out of that group there, plus I'd imagine he is pro ready.

I'd put Erixon at 8 to Columbus or 9 to Boston.

I think I'd rank him after Larsson and Hamilton, but before murphy and Siemens.

And you're his pen-pal then? All I've heard is second hand gossip.
Unless you're Facebook friends with him, I doubt you really know why either.

He's a rookie. The most he can get dollar-wise has been decided by the CBA. He wasn't happy about being drafted by the Flames. Why? That's what I want to know. Who DOES he want to play for? And why would the Oilers risk anything on him, since we don't have a great track record with that kind of thing?

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Less than 3 hrs to 5 pm ET deadline, but hearing CGY may not get 09 1st-rounder Tim Erixon signed. If not, he re-enters 2011 draft

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Obviously still time to get a deal done, though. With this entry-level system, rare for a first-rounder to not sign and "re-enter."

@TSNBobMcKenzie: If Erixon re-enters draft, scouts all over map on where he may be taken. Everything from top 10 to second round. No strong consensus

@TSNBobMcKenzie: $ not usually factor in entry-level situations. Maybe Erixon wants to play elsewhere? If so, his rights will be traded before deadline

There's no way I'd take Erixon over Murphy. I like Erixon and it would be sweet if we got him, but Murphy's offensive potential is through the roof. Siemens, I could go either way on.

3. Murphy
4. ERIXON
5. beaulieu
6. Siemens

Thoughts?

Best case scenario if Oilers can get it done is:

trade 31st to Calgary for Erixon since they could lose him for nothing in 2 hours.
draft RNH
package Hemsky+19th+later round picks for Florida 3rd overall and we draft Adam Larsson
Next year we take Yakupov, Grigorenko or Galchenyuk and we are all set.
One can dream.

Hall-RNH-Eberle
MPS-Grigorenko-Gagner/Omark
C.Hamilton-Horcoff-Pitlick
Hartski-Lander-Jones

Whitney-Larsson
Erixon-Petry
Marincin-Teubert

True. I guess it come down to what you're looking for. murphy will be WAY better on the PP, but I'd take Erixon 5 on 5.

Can't stand it when the Players, or their agents are to greedy, even before they even played 1 game in the NHL. So no real interest in Erixon.
I think therefore he would be picked in the 2nd round, or probably be traded before the Deadline.

Well, conditional deal between Cgy and NYR may be done according to Brooksie, just depends whether they can sign Erixon or not, which they have permission to do.

Maybe, but our PP needs more help than our ES play, imo.

It's so funny. I feel sorry for the Flames.

There it is, CGY acquires Roman Horak and two second-round picks from the NY Rangers.

Erixon has already signed a deal with the NYR, beating the 5 p.m. deadline. Big add for the Rangers. Believed to be NHL ready.

Our PP will be fine once we have some more years under our kids belts. Won't need a PP if we don't have a good 5 on 5.

Well if you are Calgary you have to like this move. Maybe not moving Erixon, but the return is a good one.

Is there any reason(s) given why the Flames couldn't sign him?

Agreed !! you play more time ES than on PP ,
We need someone To QB our PP, but we need solid 2 way and defensive defenseman more.

It's a good return for having no leverage on a player that wouldn't sign with them. That being said, it's still a major fail in general for letting your top prospect walk when you already have a weak prospect pool going forward.

The return isn't THAT great for Calgary. They had two options here:

1) Lose Tim Erixon, get the 53rd overall pick, and keep their own 5th rounder

2) Trade Tim Erixon, their own 5th rounder, and a chance to pick 53rd overall for the 45th overall pick, the 57th overall pick, and a 5th round prospect.

In essence all they did was trade Tim Erixon for the 45th overall pick. One second rounder was gained. That's it. It's exactly what we got for Riley Nash.

What a blow to the Flames haha. For their sake lets hope those 2nd rounders work out. Top prospect gone.... ouch.

There was probably more than one bidder and I find it hard to believe this was the best that any team had to offer. Erixon must have said trade me to the Rangers or I go back into the draft. Fare market value would have been, at the least, the Rangers first rounder but Slats pulled of a nice one.

Don't get me wrong it's a fail, but they picked up a couple of picks here.

Tim Erixon is a stud. They got more then if he hadnt signed, but imo, he is worth a mid 1st round pick.
Flames fans think its awesome when no one wants to sign with the Oilers.. Well, today is our day to
