What would you do?

I am sure the majority of us are already bored of the post season and anticipating the Stanley Cup finals, NHL Draft, and Free Agency.

To pass some time I would like to know what you guys would do if the Pittsburgh Penguins unveiled a third jersey like this for next year:

It is obviously not any of the jerseys from the 80s or 90s but it keeps true to the black/Pittsburgh gold color scheme.

Would you be ecstatic and buy one right away? Would you be angry?

Pointless thread but hey, what else is there to do?

I really like it. The only thing that I don't like about it is the name and the area above the shoulders being the same color.

In all seriousness, that is my favorite jersey of all time. I would buy an authentic instantly.

Never been a fan of mustard yellow for any team but as mustard yellow goes, it's pretty good.

That's when nick was legit...that temple game show and the american gladiators for kids show was awesome. Don't remember what it was called but they had to climb a mountain and hit buttons at the end of each show.

As for the jersey, I would buy one

i would be mad. not only because they're not the first 2 cup era jerseys, but they also don't have nearly enough black in them.

you either go black and yellow or you don't go yellow at all, mang.

That does look nice and I do like the yellow. The only thing, though, it looks a lot like Boston's Winter Classic jerseys:

With the exception of the logo

With the baldwin era logo? Pass.

The original poster's jersey is just way too bright and someone touched on the Boston Bruins thing already. If the Penguins decide to change the 3rd yet again, I'm all for the 1990-91 black jerseys. Outside of those, no thanks to any variation.

I am still a relatively new fan (only been following since like 2003(hockey in general, didn't pick a team until 2004)) so I am not very nostalgic about classic jerseys/logos. So with no intent of offending anyone here, I think that thing looks like crap. Sorry, just my opinion. I liked the baby blues as a 3rd jersey, based less on color and more on design. If I was going to make one it would be a combination of the new 3rd color and the old 3rd design.

Off topic: does anyone else feel that for the sake of the home fans seeing some different colors that the league should go to a format where the home team wears white or light colors? I saw that a bunch of Canada vs Canada games this year were that way and remembered some talk of it last year. I think it would be great, plus teams would be forced to get away from the overdone black 3rd jersey. Thoughts?

P.S. not trying to threadjack just figured it was related.

Well those baby blue jerseys were a throwback, so if you aren't a fan of nostalgia...you kind of were when you liked that jersey. The jersey I am talking about are these.

But in the edge slim fitting style so it's not so baggy and massive. The Kings retro looked great in the rbk edge format.

Didn't they wear the dark jerseys at home way back in the day? That was one of the reasons the NHL did that, probably for merchandising as well since the dark jerseys sold more than the white jerseys.
