With the 44th overall pick, the Dallas Stars select, from the Vancouver Giants, physical specimen David Musil! We're ecstatic that someone ranked 17th by ISS has dropped this low. We feel he can add that physical element that our back-end needs. We think he's like the Mcilrath of this draft.

Grrrr... Bad pick.

Ma. Granlund is not going before the 5th round in the actual draft.

Really? ISS has him 16th among European skaters, and everywhere else I've read about him has him going around the 2nd-3rd round.

I don't mean to slam you or anything, but I'm just curious to what makes you say that.

That would be an excellent move for the Stars if they could nab Musil at 44. They desperately need a blueliner in his mold.

He's weak, lacks drive, lacks wheels and is terrible defensively, heck, he even has a weak shot. Does not possess the unbelievable hockey sense of his older brother and overall he's not good enough offensively to cover up the huge holes in his overall game. I mean last years 4th rounder Teemu Pulkkinen had 41 points in 17 games in his draft year compared to Granlund's 52 in 40 (In Junior A).

His older brother Mikael Granlund (minnesota 9th overall) had 57 points in 35 games in the year before his draft year and 40 points in 43 games in his draft year in Sm-Liiga.

I know its not a pressing need but we do eventually need to find a goalie that can take over for Lundqvist. Both Gibson's look OUTSTANDING and if we were able to acquire a 2nd round pick i wouldnt mind using 1 one on one of them.. Question is.. Which Gibson does everyone like more?

The Dallas Stars are proud to select, with the 45th overall pick, of the Victoriaville Tigres, Phillip Danault! We love his drive, his character and his skill level so much that we traded up to make sure we get him.

Doubtful it's a bad pick. I'm confident Granlund can be good and he does have some pretty good potential. He's up there among European prospects, I think he'd be more than worth a second.

I think he's young and he'll need some development. It's a risky pick, but it could be worth while. In a draft like this, I'm positive he could work out. I can see him as a boom or bust prospect and I'm willing to take a chance.

Good pick, IMO. Worth the risk at 46.

I had 2 players in mind (don't want to give it away right now, in case he manages to slip a lot) but Jaskin has great skills, just needs to tune them a little more. Plus i love his size. At 46, may as well go for a steal.

With the 47th pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, the Florida Panthers select, from the Edmonton Oil Kings, center Michael St. Croix.

Really like this kid's upside. Definitely adds some skill to a prospect pool without a whole lot of "wow" potential up front.

I am aware that I am up next, I am just waiting to hear back on a trade offer. I will make my pick as soon as I hear one way or another.

Anyone who wants to trade with me, let me know.

The Los Angeles Kings are proud to select the Upstate New York native who is currently playing for the Ottawa 67s... Shaaane Prince.

[REASONING: With 88 points in only 59 games, this kid has first line NHL potential. Great hands, already has an NHL-quality shot and skates better than most NHLers. His hockey sense is described "off-the-charts."

The kid would have gone in the top-3 if he were bigger and did not have a concussion. Prior to the concussion, he was listed as a mid-first rounder despite being 5-11 185. He slipped to the second round because of the injury, but all the reports suggest he's totally recovered, so I will take my chances on someone this talented in the middle of the second round. Note that he's decently strong - I saw him fight and he held his own against a real goon... and the reason he got into a fight is that he leveled another player in a big hit.]

- Highlight reel goal after great stickhandling and patience: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXia682efCI
- Score on a great shot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQF7S...eature=related

He looks good in a Rangers uniform.

Great pick for NYI. He'd be a great fit for them. As Bluenote correctly pointed out this season, Edmundson outplayed McIlrath by a country mile.

I think he fits well, too.

Isles are very happy with our draft so far. Landeskog, Namestnikov and Edmundson in the first fifty choices.
