The draft is a little less than 2 weeks away - we could do another, I suppose, but only 1/2 rounds worth.

I'm down for a live draft, we should do it in a chat room, it would fly and be real exciting. Five minutes allowed per pick, trades live, random selection order. I'd be up for helping getting it together. We would just have to find a time that everyone is available.

I think that would be really fun, but really tough to coordinate.

With the 60th pick of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, the are very proud to select; from VIK Västerås HK in the HockeyAllsvenskan.

WILLIAM KARLSSON

SWE-JR. 01/08/93 6' 0" 163 C 38 20 34 54 45

Karlsson is underrated, unappreciated by hockey fans in North America (though we suspect that Swedes and the few draftniks who follow European hockey closely) but is someone worth paying attention to. He's been productive and has upside. This kid isn't getting much ink now, but could generate a good buzz going forward because he has so many the attributes teams are looking for. he's got shifty moves and can really see the ice and anticipate the play as it unfolds. Plays with a real high compete level and energy; goes to the net and is able to handle the puck well in traffic. Can score and set up the play.

Red Line Report has been on Karlsson's case for much of the season, and had a strong write-up on him back in February.

Pierre Gauthier, Montreal GM " We have had our eye on this young man for quite some time. His hockey smarts are off the charts, hes got a great stride and competes really well in both ends of the ice. We believe hes got 2c upside and the ability to be a dangerous playmaking centerman for us in the future. We are excited to be able to add a player like William to our organization. "

Montreal Canadiens 2011 Draft Picks

21. (C) Rocco Grimaldi (USNTDP)
60. (C) William Karlsson (SWE-JR.)
66.
78..

4th round huh. good value there. hes better than a 4th rounder for sure.

i went with him at 60 which many might consider a reach, but hes a good looking prospect with great wheels and plays a solid all around game. and at 6 ft tall, hes a giant on habs roster.

this draft is going to produce some very good nhl players in 1-3 years. many of which will be chosen in that 50-125 range.

This is a little iffy, since I'd assume if I was a real scout I'd have heard about the outcome of his hearing..

The Panthers select, from Regina of the WHL, defensemen Myles Bell.

He's a good kid who made a big mistake. However, without knowing the repercussions, I couldn't deny taking a kid with his talent at this point in the draft.

I was contemplating taking him. I wonder if it would help to have Heatley as a teammate?

San Jose is pretty stacked, I like drafting for a team where I don't have to worry about needs so much. I was tempted to take a goalie, some good ones still up there.
