Finally had to put 'em down... :'(

After 9 years, my beloved skates exploded. They were a size and a half too small, but I loved them. Got 'em in grade 6.

Yeah, I haven't grown much since then. I was 5'11 by grade 8, and still am... now I'm only getting fatter But that's besides the point.

What's the oldest pair of skates that you have and still use, and if you had an old pair that just died, how old were they?

I wanna see if I just had those because I'm a cheap stinky Polak, or if everyone does it.

Nice. Both very old! I had pretty old cleats, which I originally got for rugby, but I moved up a few levels in soccer, so I get specific cleats for that. They're nice, though. 2 years old, but awesomely made. Hand made in Germany :-p

I had a pair o hand me down Bauer's that I got in about 1987 that were a size 11when I was about a size 7. They fit me now but were to uncomfortable. Gave them to the savation army 2 years ago. Need to get a new pair.

3 years? That's it?

I think I own cereal that's older than 3 years old.

I upgraded my 10 year old pair of Graf 707's last year- but they're still good for the outdoor rink

I could probably get a couple more years out of them by changing the blade.

I put my ~1989 Super Tacks to bed last year. The leather looked like props out of an old western.

Not exactly the same as skates but I had a stick since I was 7. It was too huge for me at the time but I would stick with it and play. Last year, I was play street hockey and It snapped in half on a slap-shot(It went in by the way) I didn't play hockey for another 2-3 weeks.

I feel you pain. I had a pair of bright orange Kastinger ski boots from the late 70s that fit my EEE and 1/2 wide feet perfectly. Had to give them up around 1998 when orange chunks of boot fell off when I was walking in them on the first day of the season. Nice bright trail of orange plastic.

Not really the same thing at all, but I recently (within the last few days) bought a new car (I mentioned it in another thread, sorry to those who've read it already), so I had to put my ol' girl down. She served me well for 8 years, and was my first car I've ever owned, so she is special to me. I know this will sound insane, but when I drove my new car off the lot, I drove past my trade-in, and felt sad for her.

R.I.P. Emma

Poor things. Don't worry, I'm sure they're gliding across immaculate ice in hockey heaven
