14th/15th/16th Overall:

14th: Dallas
15th: New York Rangers
16th: Buffalo

Ottawa holds 21st, and 3 2nd rounders.

What would it take to move up to 14/15/16?

I don't see the Rangers moving down. If anything, we will try to move up. We have 2 2nd rounders.

Not worth moving up IMO. The caliber of player at 14/15 will be similar to 21. With that being said, and because of the value being similar, it might not take as much as in normal years when there usually is a bigger difference between 14 and 21.

If you want 17th Habs will trade down for the Nashville second provided who we want isn't there. We seem to have better luck second round anyways. Heck, I'd even do the 17th and a 4th for three 2nd rounders.

IF a player I really want has fallen to 14/15/16 (like Zibanejad or Armia) I would want to trade up with the Hawks #18. I would add a 3rd

Last yr LA traded the 19th and 59th to move up to 15th
In 2009 NJ gave up the 20th for 23rd and 84th

IMO a deal like you mention would probably take a mid 2nd rd pick.

To get to 12 you would probably have to include 21 and both 2nd rounders.

If you are shooting for 14 then perhaps 21 and the 1st of the 2nd rounders.

That's not really consistent with the prices paid in previous years.

Don't anticipate a straight trade down, but depends on the board.

If no players are involved, truthfully, to make it worth Rangers while, give up a selection this year and wait until next year, as an alternative, the core of the deal would be Rangers 1 this year for Sens 1 in 2012. I might also want to swap the better of my seconds this year for the best of your seconds this year.

It's a gamble for both, but that's what I think it would take.

Calgary is lacking a 2nd and 3rd this year. We might be in a position to move down for the 21st if a 2nd and 3rd are coming back the other way. Although, I completely understand it that is asking for to much just to move up.

Calgary Picks 13th btw.

Darryl Sutter would pat you on the back for this idea, but I think it's time to keep the pick and choose the best player available. The Flames don't need the depth, we need high-end talent.

I don't think the Sens would deal their 1st in 2012, and in any event, given the desire to offer sheet someone, can't trade any 1st-3rd round picks in 2012.

I really want Buffalo to move up a couple spots in the draft and pick McNeill.
