Jets will have money to burn and will want a proper top line to cheer for,
Heatley for Byfuglien
Heatley has put of decent numbers in SJ but just doesn't fit well IMHO
and being a little over paid the Jets could afford this with their current low cap
Heatley vetoed a deal to Edmonton for the following reasons
1) Did not want to be part of the rebuild
2) Wants to play in the states
3) Does not want to be the focal point of attention
how is any of that not applicable to the peg

GO SHARKS GO
I disagree. If he gets taken off the 1st line again, he will surely ask for a trade.
He's already off the first line, as far as I know. Heck, even two of the Sharks' best players, Couture and Clowe, couldn't get him to perform when they got stuck with him on their line.

It's nice to meet you, you are most definitely an endangered species.
On a side note, it does my heart good to see how even fans of that ******* realize how worthless he is. The Sharks are stuck with that horrid contract until it expires. And at that point, Heatley will be lucky to get a mill a year, the way his numbers are going.
I'm actually going to stand up for Heatley. Last season he had 26 goals, and 38 assists, so 64 points. He was 37th in the league in scoring, higher than any Thrasher. He is a very good sniper, has fast starts, and was a critical part of San Jose's #2 power play. No, he's not very good in the playoffs, but I think ATL/WNG has to worry about getting there first.

Although he definitely isn't worth Byfuglien.
Heatley was playing with Thornton, Marleau, Couture, Pavelski, etc who are better than most players on the whole Thrashers team. And despite that he only had 5 less points (and less goals) than Andrew Ladd

However, as came out during the end-of-season injury notices, he also played a "large part" (exact # not defined) of the end of the regular season with a broken hand. The implications were that it was more than 20 games. Which might also explain why he was dropped from the 2nd to the 3rd line for chunks of the latter-part of the season.
So take his numbers this year with a grain of salt. I'm not the biggest fan of Heatley by a long shot, but even I have to admit that he does not live up to the "floater" rep he seems to get on these boards. I want to move him for cap reasons mostly.
Is there anyone who really wants Dany Heatley for anything outside of a salary dump? Attitude problem and a big salary for a 60 pt player who's production is surely to go down considering he plays with tremendous talent now. I mean unless he gets traded to Pittsburgh, he's not going to play with more talented players.
On capgeek they track the most popular buyouts over the last week. This is the current standings.
1. Heatley, Dany
2. Gomez, Scott
3. Rafalski, Brian
4. Drury, Chris
5. Souray, Sheldon
Illustrates how far he has fallen in the eyes of fans.
When he looks as done as he does at 30, I can't imagine how he will look at 33 towards the end of the contract.
With most teams being terrified about bad contracts I think it is hard to trade Heatley. He hasn't really endeared himself to his past teams and it doesn't look like he will be bouncing back to his previous skill level.
To move the contract, you have to sweeten the deal significantly is my guess.
Heatley can play better then about 97% of the players in the league, WHEN HE WANTS TO. After watching him in game 5 vs Vancouver i realized how good a player he is when he trys. he has a hatty IMO if he doesnt have the broken hand/wrist.
Im also a big fan of heatley, have been since his Atlanta days.
