An apology of some sort. Free EA game download for those who have bought the game.

I was planning to buy it, and then decided to wait until the price drops a bit. Looks like I made a good call so far.

I just managed to do it on a small town. Pretty sure it's just accumulative. A recycling facility really helps.

Started up a casino/tourism city there, hope I'm not upsetting anyone if I start a second city?

Looking to build the international airport great work so that I'll get more people at my casinos.

No problem. Only thing I noticed is that your side isn't connected to my side yet for whatever reason. So we don't get any bonus from each others populations.

If you buy and activate SimCity before the 18th, you get a free PC game.

So if I buy the game now, I get ANY game on Origin for free? Could be a good deal playing the free game while EA tries to resolve the server issues.

A Maxis/EA employee or former employee got caught on another forum making nothing but positive, corporate marketing EA threads and then was subsequently banned once outed. Was glorious.

That just tarnishes this whole thing a little more though =/

I sincerely doubt it's any game on origin for free. Probably the usual freebies like dragon age 2, mass effect 2 and dead space 2.

Yeah...Probably a cheap EA PR move. Guess I'll just wait for a price drop.

I'm really enjoying the game so far. I hit the wall last night population-wise at 160k though, no matter what I did I couldn't get past that. The tiny map size is a bit of a bummer in that sense, but if it was any bigger there's no way it'd run on my 4 yo laptop. I'm also not making any major profits on specializations yet. Exporting recycled alloys is a goldmine though, as someone else here pointed out.

For those of you who want a more in-depth, old-school, DRM-free Sim City game, I suggest backing this project, Civitas, on Kickstarter:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...our-d?ref=live
I found it yesterday and pledged $15 (gets you a copy when it comes out).

What bothers me about this game is that the link between the cities sucks. I'm in a territory with multiple cities of which two are mine. I made one residential city and one industrial city and they don't exchange workers. I want the people from the residential city to go work in the mines but it doesn't work.

I end up having to make residential, commercial and industrial sectors in all of my villages which makes the whole "sharing" thing completely useless.

I hope the online thing gets better or I will not be playing anymore.

I think a lot of the "sharing" was disabled. They've said they disabled non-essential features to ease the server load and frankly I agree with you - things haven't been working as they should; Mechanisms in the game that were hyped as reasons for the online only play aren't evident. I volunteered garbage and recycling trucks from my industrial city to my commercial city and yet when I play the commercial city I don't see them, it only takes them away from me in the industrial city now.

Here's what I've learned so far:
- Don't build Nuclear till you can get the advance reactors
- Make your essential services centralized try to have them in the middle of your city and the cross roads of avenues for quicker deployment
- Trade is extremely important to make up for taxes being insufficient to fund services
- Make your own water by making sewage treatment plants and plot them next to water towers/pumps
- Sell electronics (ties into trade) I make 300k simoleons a month on processor exports
- Recycling is amazing, it brings in Alloys, Metal and Plastics which can be turned into processors or exported for BIG profit

IF that EA Free game offer is true...I'm going to get Sim City 5. I'm not going to play it right away until the problems subside, but 120 dollars worth of games for 60 bucks is cray.

Would it be alright if I claimed another plot of land without giving up on my current one? I had a bit of nuclear catastrophe that makes 30%ish of my current map unlivable.
