Beliveau is the living embodiment of this franchise. Hope to see him in his usual spot at the BC next season.

The report said he'll need a few months to recover so we should see him back in his familiar place among the 21,273 to begin next season and the drive for 25.

I had surgery 6 months ago and it's quite tough on your body. The anesthetic makes the following 12 hours a *****. I can't imagine how tough it must be for a 79 year old

Jean is a tough one. He'll be fine! Good luck with your operation M. Beliveau!

(I like these threads were we talk to players/persons well knowing they'll never read this )

Love the guy, praying he pulls through fine and is all the healthier after this.

The sight of Jean Béliveau has always brought me pleasure and pride. This surgery is necessary to prolong his life and will enable us to see him in his usual seat next season.

Le Gros Bill has proven to be one tough man throughout the years. He is a national treasure, and I wish him nothing but the speediest recovery. Had a chance to meet him at a corporate event this year. The man was nothing but class, and still able to charm the young ladies.

This Thursday, it is the 40th anniversary of Jean's retirement from hockey. June 9, 1971. Trust me, I didn't look that one up.

I'd like to see "The Press" pay some tribute to him because Jean Beliveau was cut from some very special cloth, as a player and a person.

Thankfully, I can still hear his voice in my head, while signing a copy of his book at the Scarborough Town Centre years ago.

I nervously told him he was and always will be my favorite player, to which he replied: "You are too kind."

God Bless this man.

After the Rocket, the greatest player who ever played the game, according to me. My parents went to see him play against the Saint John Beavers in the early 50's when he played for the Quebec Aces, they came here to play at the Lord Beaverbrook Arena in S.J. Still hear about this from the old folk to this day.
