Does anybody know when the annual trial on the isle will be held, if at all? I'm excited to have top notch prospects there for the first time since JVR. I'm assuming both Schenn and Couturier will be there.

Well,I dont know about trial on the Isle, but Homer said something about a Prospect Camp after July 4. I dont know if it is that week or the week after, but I remember reading from one of his quotes, they look forward to seeing how Couturier does at the prospect camp.

Players are traveling to Voorhees for Prospect Camp on Tues, July 5th, checking in later that day. Camp will run thru the next weekend with most players leaving on Mon, 7/11.
I would expect "Trial on the Isle" to be around Thurs, Fri, Sat of that week. Surprised they haven't officially announced it, but it has been a busy week for the front office... ha
1) Brayden Schenn
2) Sean Couturier
3) Erik Gustafsson
4) Eric Wellwood
5) Brendan Ranford
6) Kevin Marshall
7) Matt Read
8) Ben Holmstrom
9) Mike Testwuide
10) Marc-Andre Bourdon

I've seen a lot of lists with Ranford on them, but really know nothing about him. What's the scouting report on him? Any comparisons? ETA?

He is a smaller guy, and isnt the quickest skater, but he has a good short burst from the clips I have seen, and is very gritty and determined to get to scoring areas. Thing is he was a 7th round pick (209th overall) but he lit it up last year in the whl surprising alot of people.

I'd agree with that list, with my HM's going to Akeson and Manning. If "likely to play in the NHL" were the list I'd have Rinaldo and maybe Sesito on there, but I see rankings as more of a "potential" list.

They announced today the Trial will be on the 8th.
Spirited punch-fest with McGinn of the Gatineau Olympiques taking on Howe of the Moncton Wildcats. This might have been a case of Howe giving us the quantity and McGinn giving us the quality.
having one, albeit the top prospect, in the top 50 is nothing to be proud of
Um...
JVR and Giroux both recently were among the top 10 prospects according to HFBoards.
Schenn is not only in the top 10, he's now number 1.
I already pretty much know Couturier will be top 50, maybe not top 10 immediately, but I'm confident he'll get there.

How about 4 top 10 prospects in 4-5 years?
That impressive enough for you?
I think the idea there is that what's impressive is "How many Cups you've won", since ruling a prospect list doesn't guarantee you any.
The endless focus on "having the most prospects means you win" on this board is the one downside here. I expect it, since it's Hockey's Future, but it's still a little ridiculous at times.

It's a post by a writer covering prospects in a thread about prospects on a message board owned by a company in the business of covering prospects.
You're overreacting here.
Nobody is declaring Philadelphia a Cup winner because of their young players. Winning the Cup is extremely hard, and there are a lot of good, young teams around the NHL.
That doesn't mean the amount of young talent on the Flyers is something to scoff at.
Frankly, for somebody who wasn't even involved in this conversation, you sure act pretty defensive.
The flyers did pretty well in the 90s with mostly non-home grown players. Clarke had little patience to develop young players. But he had money to spend and traded pretty well.

Jesus, overreact much? I made a comment on what I perceived another poster to be saying, and then made a further comment to explain why I think that statement (that prospects on this board are valued more than Cup wins) applied here. And then you respond with this? I didn't get defensive, I just stated the obvious: we're on a message board about hockey prospects. Their importance gets overblown. Perhaps you missed my "it's the one downside" part? No wait, you BOLDED that so you obviously saw it.
I have no beef with you Chris, but this was an overreaction on your part, not mine.
