What is kingstons netminder situation like for next year? I'm assuming they have high expectations for bobkov since they went out of their way to acquire hi rights.
Frank Palazzese or Nathan Perry would have stepped in next year, I guess. I think Bobkov could be pretty solid and the experience of being a CHL starter seems like a very reasonable next step for him.

Confusing...why did the Flames have to sign (or trade) Tim Erixon by June 1, 2011 then as a 2009 draft pick from Sweden?
Wouldn't Erixon's deadline be June 1, 2012?
With the signing of the transfer agreement, the NHL included a "grace period" of sorts for Swedes drafted 2008 and earlier.
So with the rights of the 2008 draftees expiring this year, we're all caught up, and players drafted from Sweden from 2009 on get the standard 2 years.

I'm cautiously optimistic about them. I guess we'll find out about Palmieri and Holland a little more next year after a year together in the AHL. Etem, in all likelihood, will be in the WHL next year.
Etem Named to USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp Roster

Ducks 2010 draft pick Emerson Etem has been named to the 2011 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp roster.

Pictured (from left to right) are Mikael Granlund, Mikko Koivu and Vatanen, who the article claims to have grown height. Vatanen confirmed this by saying that even though at the start of last season he was listed on the SM-liiga site as 175 cm, he grew a couple of centimeters during the season and was measured in the army recently at 179 cm (which by the way already makes him taller than e.g. Brian Rafalski). Rest of the article focuses on Vatanen telling how he's not rushing to build his body (weight wise) to NHL standards but taking it carefully so that his strengths won't be hampered.
Out of boredom I checked out some of the heights of current NHL dmen, and interestingly 9 out of top 21 scoring dmen were either 5'10 or 5'11. Now with Vatanens new hight (5'10 wooot! ) he fits that bill. Hope he still grows and wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at like 5'11 which imo with his skillset and speed is perfectly adequate for a pure offense defenseman that he is
I see him more of a 3rd line center with the potential to step into 2nd line center in short stints.
He played his 26 [?] or so games this season mostly at 3rd line center if I remember correctly, might of spent some time on the 4th line as well.
If he put up some points last season he would of stayed with the big team IMO, as his defensive game was really good, but just couldn't get points on the board.
What do you guys figure the plans are for Nick Bonino?
Good AHL numbers, but hasn't done anything in his NHL call-ups. I believe he has mainly spent his time in the NHL in the bottom 6, right?
Can he be the #2 center of the future? Or has he missed his shot since Holland is turning pro?
Thanks.
He had a real opportunity as the third line center but didn't show us much and was eventually replaced by McMillan. He could slot back in with McMillan on the wing but he is going to need to have another good camp for that.

Bonino was 47% on faceoffs (vs 38.9%) and is just as good if not better defensively as a center. Bonino will play center with McMillan on the wing provided he comes back up again AND assuming a 3rd line UFA center isn't signed over either of them. All last year proved was that Bonino couldn't score while centering an all rookie line.
