Didn't think it was his best showing last night. He wasn't bad, per say, but he had several adventures in his own zone which normally don't happen.
Was good to see him stick up for Sutter and fight Wilson though. Did quite well too considering the height disadvantage.
Yeah it wasn't necessarily his game itself last night that was impressive, more so his tools and the way he played and that he showed ability both ways. Skates well, handles the puck well, moved the puck well, physical, fights, apparently a big shot.
I thought he made some good judgements when joining the rush, but in a game like last nights, with the lack of chemistry, he wasn't used in transition and plays that come naturally to players on their club teams.

He really does remind me of Bieksa.
I was thinking Johnny Boychuk but I think Bieksa might be a better comparison.
Why isn't this guy considered to go in the 1st round in 2012? Seems to be solid offensively. Drops the mitts. Physical. Can people tell me what his weaknesses are? Also how you would describe him, and a NHL comparison. Stats wise I'd love him on the Oilers
Basically, my feeling is that if he was 6`2 or 6`3, he`d be a top 15 pick. Instead, he`s only 6`0. He`s really improved a ton this season and I know for a fact that several NHL teams have him rated as a 1st rounder.
So is he playing with Siemens this season at ES? I know he is the same age in birthyear as Siemens, so how do they compare currently? And going forward.
Is a smaller Brad Stuart a good comparison? How is his skating (turns, pivots, agility)?

He's been paired with Siemens basically 98% of the time this year, save powerplay and save the recent injury to Siemens.
Thrower is absolutely the better offensive defender. Better passer, better shot, better offensive instincts. Siemens likely skates better, though.
Don't really have a great comparison. I've thrown out the Stephane Robidas one a few times. Both not huge guys, hit hard, fight and put up points.
Eating up major minutes as 3 of the Blades top 5 defenceman are out of the lineup. Him and Darren Dietz (Habs prospect) have been playing well over 30 minutes per night over the last handful of games.
Had a great assist against the Ice last night on Sportsnet, as well as a very decisive fight win against a solid tough kid in Spencer Wand.

Thrower was very impressive to see live against Hitmen Friday in a 4-3 loss. Blades only had 4 dmen dressed and only 3 played in the 3rd period! Thrower was stellar all night long.
Thrower has certainly taken his game to new heights since Christmas. 14 goals and 32 points in 29 games to be exact.
Quote:
“He came back after Christmas this year and has taken it to a new level,” the coach said. “Offensively he’s done a real good job for us. It’s a situation that he understands that he has to be consistent game-in and game-out.”

Took a hard hit last night in PA from Mark McNeill. Went to the hospital for Xrays on an upper body injury.
Picked him up from the hospital afterwards and there doesn't seem to be any major damage, but he will likely be out a couple of weeks by the sounds of it.
Was about to ask what his chances of slipping into the first round are..
Seems like an ideal type of d-man to build your team around. Saw a Saskatoon game on TV recently and he stood out to me. Would love for the Leafs to grab him.
It's funny, after a recent game in Calgary, he had a chat with a western conference NHL team's scout.
The scout was asking him about how he looked to be coasting a lot and wasn't skating hard every shift. Thrower simply talked about how he's been playing over 30 minutes a night for the past 2-3 weeks.
It was interesting to hear that the scout would actually question him on it, instead of realizing the situation.
I wouldn't be holding it against him as a negative about his game recently. If anything, the amount of minutes he's been playing lately should be a huge positive. He's been handling the load big time for the Blades, playing PP and PK and matching up every shift against guys like Etem, Rask and McNeill.
Sounds like Thrower will miss the rest of the regular season with an upper body injury.

Thrower, who has 18 goals and 34 points in 66 games played this season, was taken to the hospital for x-rays, which came back negative. The team is looking further into potential damage to Thrower’s rotator cuff.
Tough pill to swallow for the Blades and for Dalton. Shouldn't hurt his stock too much, but it would be nice to see him down the stretch and hopefully in the postseason.
