Obviously very early but Texas has 3 of the top 20 defensemen scoring in the AHL.
Dillon 19th with 4 points (hes tied alot all the way up to 12th)
Spang and Larsen are tied for 2nd with 6 points. Larsen of course has only played 4 games. He also set a Texas Stars franchise record with a 4 assist game. Pretty impressive start for him.
I'm just going to pretend we drafted Fraser 8th overall and use his success as Glennie's, I suggest everyone else does the same.
Fraser is quickly becoming my favourite prospect ever since the prospect tourney/exhibition games. Glad I got to see him score live when he came to Montreal on September 20th.
Just an update. Tristan King was recalled by Texas and sent to the Greenville Road Warriors. The Information on this is really limited since their is no Article or anything out side of the Transaction page on ECHL.Com. I'm guessing it was a change of scenery thing for him. Also might get more chances here than in Idaho. Another theory is its a NON-NHL trade. Last week Jerry Kuhn (under contract to Connecticut) was reassigned from Greenville to Idaho. This rarely happens but does occasionally.
How does Scott Glennie look so far? I know he's been in the AHL for a couple of weeks now. I've got him on my keeper team and I'm wondering if he's worth holding onto...
Anyone watch him play recently?
-Does he stand out?
-How soon could he get called up?
-What's his potential?
If you can please tell me all you know both positives and negatives about the guy.
Glennie with a 2 point night, look out. Stars lose again though. Seems like they're having a tough go of it without Gulutzan/Jerrard. Doesn't help that Larsen and Vincour are here either. Both goalies are rocking terrible SV%s. Really disappointing, don't know what to make of that. Kari's really the only goalie in our entire organization that's playing well, come to think of it.
That'll happen when your top 3 players are called up. But this was happening before Larsen/Vincour/Bachman left too. Seems their new coach isn't all that great.
Can anyone take a moment to comment on how Luke Gazdic looks compared to Eric Godard?
I just noticed Gazdic has scored a short-handed goal tonight, and I've read here and there that he's working hard on becoming a complete player. With a new owner likely meaning burying $750K in the minors next year wouldn't be out of the question, does Gazdic look better suited for a role in the NHL than Eric?
I get the Godard is a fantastic enforcer, but the position is honestly pretty lame. I'll take a guy like Dowell over Barch or Godard any day. Now Dowell is nothing special, but he's not lost in a defensive forward role and he can kill penalties. Is that what Gazdic is becoming this year in the AHL?
Dowell and Barch might be a bad comparison. I think Dowell actually does fight better than Barch.
I'll stick with Dowell and Godard. Dowell is solid and can hold his own, but Godard can dominate the best in the league. That's fun when it happens 10 or 15 times a year, but Dowell can make a positive impact, even if it is relatively minor, on a nightly basis.
I hope that is the type of player Gazdic can become (tough but responsible). I imagine that is what Curtis McKenzie will be should he ever develop within the organization.
