Well, widely regarded as a top3 goalie of the FEL, many have him as the best goalie of last season.

Good depth signing.

Probably shouldn't offer Levasseur another contract then.

AHL:

Pielmeier-Tarkki

ECHL:

Bobkov-Cousineau

or...

Anaheim:

Ellis-Tarkki

Long-term IR:

Hiller

Wow, first time ever Finnish tv-channel MTV3 was actually on to something!

I hope Tarkki becomes our Rinne.

Can't be anything but a good signing. The best signing of Anaheim they will do this off-season. Tarkki can be used even as a number 1 (in a worst case scenario). One of the 10 best finnish goalies. I'd say he's nowhere near the goalie as Rinne, Kipprusoff and now Rask are but of the same calibre as Antti Niemi and Antero Niittymäki.

It's not official yet but I guess when it's on capgeek it's very close/done.

Will help in Syracuse for sure and Hiller's situation will tell how many games Iiro will see in Ducks uniform.

Very nice. It never hurts taking chances on signing good goalies from European leagues. I'm glad Syracuse finally has solid goaltending now but my question is, who's the odd man out in Syracuse next year... Bobkov or pielmeier? Could they see their time split between Syracuse and Elmira???

Help is right, there's no way we start the season off with Ellis starting, unless we REALLY fix our D.

finland has so many goalies if he is a top 10 in Finland, I'm pretty happy.

Tarkki is an very consistent and technically great goalie. He can win games alone and the difference of his good game and bad game isn't so big. Rarely let in easy goals. Big size, quick legs, hands and good positioning. Overall he is one of the best goalies from Finland including NHL-goalies. He's bad at shootouts, hes decent at breakaways. Definitelly NHL-starter goalie potential. It was just matter of time which team would sign him. Very good signing for Ducks he could be your future starter goalie.

This guy really "challenges" Hiller and "wins?" Just so you know, Hiller is one of the top goalies in the NHL when healthy.........that being said, this is a good signing for the Ducks.

The Ducks needed to do something at the goalie position. They have no depth in the minors, and they have a risk that Hiller will not be able to come back at his prior level or at all. As much as people were unhappy with Ellis, he had a good record here last season, and the Ducks were lucky to get him for McBackup, who had fallen apart as the "starter" after Hiller went out.

I suspect that this means that Emery is gone, since there would be no need to have four goalies that could play at the NHL level. If the Ducks resign Emery it is an indication to me that we have seen the last of Hiller, or that Murray has a trade lined up for Ellis.

If Hiller can play I expect that Tarkki will start the season in Syracuse, and then move up mid season after he has learned to play better on North American ice. If you recall, Hiller started this way.

So, for anyone who sees him play regularly, do you think he can be another Hiller? Not in terms of talent, but take our backup position and potentially be a starter in the future?

He could be future starter in NHL and he really challenges hiller for the starter role maybe not next year but the year after. But Hiller is an elite NHL-goalie and Tarkki has just signed with the NHL club. Long way to go but the potential is definitely there.
