Meanwhile, Malhotra practicing means nothing. He could just be in a 'teacher' role still, like he's been since the injury.
Skated centering the 4th line I wouldn't say that means nothing guess we shall see

Our coaches are literally freaking nuts, but I guess we can't complain considering we're still playing hockey.

AV is going with the Mighty Ducks "quack attack" strategy. He's trying to out-confuse Boston.

If Hamhuis is out for game two, I see these three options taking place. I would not be surprised to see option 3 take place...

Edler - Ehrhoff
Ballard - Salo
Rome Bieksa

Ehrhoff - Salo
Edler - Bieksa
Ballard - Tanev

Edler - Salo
Rome - Bieksa
Alberts - Ehrhoff

Heh, that's nice but we already heard that prior to Game 1, and then he regressed back to day-to-day. I think we'll buy it when we see him at the pre-game skate.

Interesting, if true, Canucks forward depth gets better, D depth gets worse. The good news is that AV will be comfortable giving the 4th line a bit more ice time. The bad news is, our best shutdown D man and the guy that has helped turn Bieksa into a monster, probably won't play.

VIA Canucks twitter:

"I'll see how I feel after our morning skate and go from there" Manny Malhotra on the odds he'll play in Game 2.

What is this I don't even.

Maybe it's showing how many scoring chances player X is giving up to player Y? I dunno d00d.

Canucks players v Bruins players. The negative numbers are amount of chances for the Canucks. The positive numbers are chances against the Canucks.

I posted this in the Canucks board GDT but I'll post here too. I have a source (scout) who says Lucic is playing with a broken toe. He thinks it's his big toe so it's been affecting his stride. Apparently it's bandaged thoroughly in his skate and his foot is in an ice bucket between periods and before/after games.

I think the second one is the best, Ballard is fine and Tanev has been solid, I just don't know how I feel about having Alberts out there in the SCF considering he hasn't played much hockey in a while.

But like a poster corrected me on, the coaches probably have a better idea of what's going on than me.

Unbelievable that Ballard is still not likely to see the ice this series.

I love the guy, and I hope (but don't expect) if we're stuck on not giving him a chance with this lineup that he can find work in the league somewhere else. He deserves it with the way he has handled all of this.

There was an interview with AV today saying that he likes Ballard and Tanev when they're playing together so I wouldn't totally rule him out if he decides to go with 7 dmen.

Also they're not really missing much by going with 7 dmen considering the 4th line only played about 3min last night and the empty spot could easily be taken by double shifting one of the 3rd liners.

It's a plus/minus so to speak of scoring chances when player X is on the ice... black favouring Bruins and red the Canucks

This has basically been confirmed on the bruins board a while ago, I think it was early or right before the tampa series. He got hit with a seguin slap shot and it broke his right big toe (i think right, its his power foot) which has been effecting his acceleration.

^in practice.

Was Lucic ever really all that fast in the first place? From what I can recall he's always been a bit of a lumbering skater. I didn't notice anything different from last game.

Did someone on HFboards say that he is playing with a broken toe that needs to be iced between periods?
