Still wouldn't trust him as the man in charge at the draft table, but he took some risks that payed off last year for Atlanta and probably deserved to keep going.

People are pretty quick to criticize here. It's not like Dudley is a GM with a pristine track record, and True North doesn't seem like an organization that would make a decision hastily or without considerable thought.

Retweet from bob Mackenzie

TSNBobMcKenzie

Just to confirm @Real_ESPNLeBrun's report, ATL GM Rick Dudley has been told by True North he will not be retained by the WPG franchise.

bad move IMO, Dudley has done a great job in just over a year, a new GM could only makes things go backwards

If only Dudley could have assembled a team with a promising young core through solid trades and drafting.

i like it. craig heisinger deserves to be the new GM and he will not disappoint. he is a great hockey mind and more people would be happy about this if they knew anything about him. another good move by chipman

RT @TSNBobMcKenzie: Just to follow up on Dudley report, he will have no role at all with the WPG franchise. Signed a 4 year contract extension last January.

4 years of being paid GM money? Not a bad gig. I wonder if he will just go back to Florida as AGM. I wouldn't consider him for a GM job if I were an owner.

Oh boy....don't understand why you would not retain the guy that brought in Buff and Ladd. They better hope this doesn't backfire on them.

Wow, that's just incredibly stupid.

Someone's gonna get Dudley in charge though and benefit from him though.

Good Move??????? This team is going to have all AHL coaches, assts, gm etc. What a joke! Dudley did a great job since being with Atlanta, ownership had his hands tied!

I think this is TNSE's first mistake. Dudley is a proven GM and I personally liked every one of his moves except for losing Bergfors for nothing.

This is stupid. You're already ruining the franchise.

This also is just gonna make the move that much more difficult for everyone involved. New GM will likely mean ANOTHER new coaching staff for this team. Are we trying to see how many coaches we can go through? It just seems like such a step backwards.

like i said. people who know NOTHING about heisinger wont be happy. clearly ur one of those people. i got nothing against dudley but he clearly didnt impress chipman and thats all i need as a winnipeg fan.

give heisinger a chance and u will be happy with the results

Not a surprise as it was openly discussed who would pickup the buyout- Atlanta ownership or TNSE.
Nice guy but not a very good GM.
Good move.

yeah, these young players going to a 3rd front office/coach in 3 years is probably not the greatest thing.

This will likely be Enstrom's 5th coach(assuming Ramsay is out) in 5 years. Not that it's really made a difference for him, but still...

On the whatever the new team is called board, there are a couple of posters who reported the Dudley extension was not part of the deal to purchase the team.

So he may be a FA right now and doesn't get any $.

Whoa whoa whoa. He's gonna get paid to be the GM, except he won't be? You're telling me if he wanted to, he could run off and chill on a beach in the Caribbean drinking rum all day, partying all night and pull in a GM's salary for 4 years? That's just so....AWESOME
