The Tampa Bay Lightning are pleased to announce the acquisitions of forwards Andy McDonald and Stefan Della Rovere from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Mike Lundin the Bolts 2011 1st round pick. McDonald, who will be 34 by the start of next season, will play a top-six role for the Bolts and give the Bolts another offensive weapon. Stefan Della Rovere, who will likely fill in on the third or fourth line, is a pesky player with leadership qualities.
"We are happy to have Andy and Stefan here in Tampa Bay. We feel that these two will be integral pieces in our drive to take the next step this coming season. We are committed to building a winner here and are excited to add these two pieces moving forward. We wish Mike all the best in St. Louis."
As our first official act in this game, it is with heavy hearts that the Minnesota Wild announce the retirement of Derek Boogaard's #24. This will be made official in a tribute ceremony on opening night of the 2011/2012 season. Derek's memory will always be one of a fierce and feared competitor, as well as the benevolent, charismatic and charitable soul off the ice who will forever be remembered in this clubs history.
