If Chicago had to move the Buf this year, would you trade our 1st for him?

You know what I hate about all these line mockups? They all look pretty good and everything, but then I remember that we need to stick boat anchor Horcoff in there somewhere...

hmmm. I guess I'm a little off on this one. the Buf is a pretty rare player; a huge (260lb) power forward and/or a darn good D-man. Last time I checked he's the only player to have that skill set. You're saying you guarentee that Larsson will be a better D-man than Buf? Maybe, but not proven as yet. You're positive Huberdeau will be a more effective forward than Buf? I seriously doubt it. the Nuge might be because of his special skill set, but it's no guarentee.

hey, it's hypothetical anyway and we're just having fun.

You know what's even worse? The fact that at this moment, he's the best C on the team (shudder).

really? you wouldn't want a proven 20 goal, 53 point defensemen, who also just happens to be ,arguably, the most uncontainable power forward in the world today? If memory serves, wasn't the Buf a very, very key component (as a forward) of the Stanely Cup Champions just one year ago, and now he is the top defenseman on another team? He was the 4th highest scoring defenseman this year and the only one to get 20 goals. And you're positive Larsson will be better than that?

the more I think about it, I'd make the trade in a heartbeat.

You can't have Byfuglien

He's our toy to piss off Vancouver!

He was such a dominant power forward that his new team converted him to defence?

Getting used to calling it "our" team? Still sounds weird to me as an oiler fan. Seriously though, what do "you" want for burmistrov? I think he is someone we can use

This is the first year that Buff actually played well in the regular season, so know I wouldn't have traded our 1st for him.

No. Maybe our other 1st rounder but he is definitely not worth 1st overall.

This is probably the most ridiculous trade proposal I've come across on these boards, and there have been some doozies. Not even sure if I'd entertain Buff + Atlanta's 1st, but it would make more sense than just Buff IMO.

Now THAT would be a tempting offer. Buf +#7 for 1st overall? A proven NHLer just entering his prime with plenty of size, nastiness and versatility plus whomever is left of:

RNH, Larsson, Huberdeau, Couturier, Landeskog, Strome, Zibanejad?

I think I would make that deal.

Yep, even this year. He was a force of nature early on while getting his mug on hockey magazines, before he got the new contract. Down the stretch, was there a single hockey fan in the universe that wasn't questioning that new contract. As scary good as Byfuglien can be I'm a little more scared of that contract. Do you get the dominating player or the apathetic one.

I still like to pronounce his name like it's spelled.

Ouch, just looking at their salary structure and Hainsey with a two year cap hit of 4.5. How the hell did that happen?

Maybe LA's 1st but no way in hell do you trade the 1st overall. If it was Buff and Seabrook then we would be talking.

Yes but he is still talking from the perspective of him coming from Chicago which still makes this thread entirely ridiculous.

To me Buff was pretty much Penner for most of his career. Would we really want to give up that much for Penner?

Maybe for him and another pick, if it had been top 15ish, or a high level prospect. But that's not the case, so no, not straight up.

Why would Winnipeg and Chicago trade a player to us in the same trade for the #1 pick?

Because if you read the OP opening line or hell even the thread title, it states a hypothetical situation. Saying that if Chi held on to Buff last year and was in cap hell this off season. They are now asking if we would trade our first this year for Buff. So not sure how you even get Winnipeg/Atlanta into the mix.

I see what you're saying, i misinterpreted the OP's intentions. That makes the proposal even worse because the Chicago Buff wasn't half the player that the Atlanta Buff was/is.

That's a hard argument to make. Without Buff last season Chicago wouldn't have won the cup. He is the biggest reason they beat Vancouver.

I pretend he's not there and hope he'll go away lol. I have him pencilled in as a fourth liner/13th forward usually

The sad thing about that statement and these mock line ups is that unfortunately the Oilers are a worse team without Horc in the line-up. Hard for people to admit but it is pretty sad.
