From past discussions, players Colorado fans seem more interested in.

Jakub Voracek, Ryan Johansen, 8th overall pick, Nikita Filatov(maybe)

It would be silly for Colorado to go from Stastny to Brassard. Huselius, Russell are fluff. Filatov is a sweetener. 8th is nice trade chip. Not enough to convince Colorado to go near this deal. Serious backwards move.

Voracek + 8th seemed to go alone well with some Avs fans. Some wanted Voracek + Vermette + 8th which is too much depth loss at forward for CBJ I think.

edit : These proposed deals were for Stastny alone. With Liles added on you might be looking at something more along the lines of Voracek + Filatov + 8th.

No offense but CLB doesn't have a young top pairing defenseman and they have one 1st line scoring winger(Nash).

Absolutely no interest in Filatov, Huselius, and Russell. Avs would never trade for a guy like Filatov. They also hate Russians.

Maybe get another team involved.

Columbus - Stastny, Liles
Philly - Columbus 8th overall, Calvert, David Savard
Colorado - Jeff Carter, Coburn

If Stastny wants out (I don't know), they get good return and don't take any steps back.
Columbus gets a bunch better now, but have to sacrifice a good bit of future.
Philly clears a bunch of cap space (for Bryzgalov??) and get some high quality young ELC's

Philadelphia fans would destroy you. And we disproportionately value Calvert and Savard over here; while that's the sort of package that makes 'em tradable, it still feels heavy to us without being nearly enough for Philly.

This no worky.

Dispatch Mind control.

I sent Aaron Portzline a direct Message on twitter the day after the deadline, asking if we offered about Liles and if we did what did they want for him. (I wanted to get Liles)

Heres his response.

Aportzline
I truly don't know. The CBJ were never that enthused about Liles; if Brassard or Voracek were mentioned, it would have stopped talks flat.

To get those 2 guys into Jackets uniforms, would cost a lot, (dont think it would ever happen)...

Brassard
8th overall pick
Steve Mason
Kris Russel
2012 2nd or 3rd

for

Stastny
Liles
Elliot

IMO

I could join the crowd that selectively ignores Portzline as needed to prove points, but, okay, fair enough.

To be fair, I don't see him as a savior; just needed talent depth.

I'd be surprised if Colorado went for that. That's kind of a quanity-for-quality, especially since even we have a crisis of faith w/r/t Mason nowadays.

Question: Is Columbus even on JML's list of teams he would consider being traded to? He has a NTC with 18 teams he won't go to.

The Avs need a goalie. Desperately. Unless a goalie is being offered OR a top pairing D-man/winger (like others have mentioned), it's a no-go. Colorado and Columbus do not seem like the best of trading partners. ...not to mention to acquire Stastny it will probably require a massive overpayment (I am just mentioning what others have said; don't shoot the messenger).

I think it would really help Columbus to bring in guys like Stastny and Liles. Stastny could really look good with Nash. Liles getting a fresh start and be a PPQB for the Jackets. With Colorado, even with Mason's recent struggles, I'd imagine they would ask for him back in the deal. He is still a young goalie and has room to improve. Colorado desperately needs a goalie for now and for the future. Mason fits the role IMO. Other pieces to be added in could be those that were mentioned (Brassard, Russell, and so forth.) It depends on who Colorado likes. Columbus would have to look to the goalie market on July 1st to find a replacement. Maybe resign Garon to a 1 year deal and pair him with a Giguere, Turco, Theodore or Hedberg. They could try for Vokoun or Bryzgalov if they hit the market, but I doubt that they would lure them to Columbus.

I don't like when OP's begin a thread with "what would it take to get this center to Columbus?"

Should be "what would it take to get this center to play with Nash in Columbus?"

He said he'd waive to us at the deadline apparently.

Huh. Well that's interesting to know. I guess he did grow up in Indiana and would be close-ish to home.

EDIT: And wait... where did you find this tidbit?

This would be why such a trade would be a major risk for Columbus. Our goaltending depth is better than Colorado's only in the sense that one of our guys has been a high quality starter once. We need a pair of backups at both the NHL and AHL levels, and the NHL one needs to have that special ability to keep staring over Mason's shoulder at the crease. "No, no, don't you worry. Just keep doing whatever you like. Just looking at where I'll be working for the next few years, is all. Don't you worry about a thing."

So, yeah, I'd love to sign Theodore or Hedberg... and have them stare down Mason while he desperately tries to rediscover his winning ways from two years back.

Bad trading partners? For that kind of blockbuster, yes. But at one point we were talking about some sort of Liles+11th for 8th deal that everyone seemed to like, and it'd be nice if we could start a letter-writing campaign to our respective front offices or something.

It was in the Twitter-sphere. I know which one he's talking about, it was tweeted by Columbus Dispatch reporter Aaron Portzline.

No interest in dealing Stastny and Liles to columbus, and certainly not at the price Columbus fans would like.
