Is this worth a buy at $300? I'm in the market for a tablet but personally 500 is way too much and as much as I want a touchpad I don't want to go through craigslist or ebay.
My one question concerning the playbook is when they do release the OS upgrade and it fixes the mail, calender, ect. is it good to go then? Like is there really any major issues with it that would stop it from being a real usable tablet? I'm not an app ***** so the lack of apps doesn't really concern me. Just want something for web browsing, movies, ect.
It's a great tablet even without the OS 2.0 update (which is supposed to be out in less about a month) if you can pick one up on special I'd highly recommend it.
And if you have a BlackBerry phone it's even better.
4:3 SCREEN RATIO FOR THE WIN MOTHA****AAAAAA, ESPECIALLY ON A MEDIA CONSUMPTION DEVICE WHERE MOST IF NOT ALL YOUR CONTENT IS IN 16:10 or 16:9
indeed, as i have said in a few threads i probably would not have bought a tablet myself. My brothers got me the playbook for christmas because they know i have and like my bold. if i had bought one myself it likely would have been one of the android ones followed by the playbook and the iPad a distant 3rd.
It's not trolling, it's an opinion. The iPad's the best on the market, why pay similar for less?
Well let me see buddy, you are in a Playbook specific thread, why to you come and mention an iPad when nobody is talking about that here? So yes that is trolling.
And saying iPad is the best? Nope I don't think so and many don't either. Not saying the Playbook is either but it has its fair share of strong points over the iPad. As mentioned by Sined the iPad has a 4:3 aspect ration on a media device where most of the media is 16:10 or 16:10 which the Playbook has.
Also side by side with my brothers iPad 2 even he admitted the Playbook's sound quality was slightly better and was louder.
Size is well more of a preference thing, I like the smaller 7 inches because of the ease of carrying it around and it's easier to hold with both hands on the edge and use thumbs to type, but I can see the advantages of the 10 inch screen for watching movies etc.
In the end it is what you are looking for. Yes iPad has a huge market share and that is because it was first to the market, has a ton of apps (many of which I find useless but whatever floats your boat) and you have this Apply culture where people buy it without really looking at what they need just because it is Apple.
Those new features are pretty cool. Hopefully, they improve the browser (make it more stable) and the god damned PDF reader. That PDF reader is an enormous piece of ****.
