2011 Atlanta Fan Dispersal Draft

I know I'm not very qualified to have stock in this because I'm much more of a reader an rarely post, but I felt as though we need a thread on who we draft first overall. I'm very excited to see our fanbase grow by the end of the night and feel like we need to get the highest quality poster.

Either way, we'll be adding at the very least two new posters.

To the new posters, once they get here, welcome to the Stars family....even if it is during the toughest of times at the moment. Welcome and Go Stars!

Modo will be doing the official announcement.

Modo, myself, and piqued have come up with a lengthy list. As I said in the random thread, we have been talking to a couple teams so stay tunned to the entire draft . Several great posters are available and thankfully we have two picks.

I have complete faith in you guys, mostly because I don't know anything about anything when it comes to Thrashers fans.

I have more posts than all the people eligible for the draft, COMBINED. If you trade the Devils board the 1st overall pick, I will come over here and make this board a much more interesting place.

I post every day because I don't have a job right now, and usually 200+ posts a day, sometimes, 300.

I'm a big fan of Loui Eriksson, I love the city of Dallas (I have visited), I like the Stars team, Joe Nieuwendyk is awesome, and I also already dislike Jamie Langenbrunner after loving him.

I'm cheering for the Dallas Mavericks. I'm active every day, I'm sarcastic, I hate the Ducks, and Sharks. I love wrestling, funny cat videos on YouTube, I have the best YouTube channel on the net.

Think about it.

We didn't necessarily want to talk publicly about other posters, as that's kind of tacky, hence no thread. But this works as a place to welcome the newcomers once we make the selections. The strategy is in place, suffice it to say.

Brett Hull is a genius. That is all.

EDIT: FWIW, The Mavs have been my 2nd favorite team since the end of the 90s, and especially when they got Jet. I'm a natural fit here.

Well, since there is actually a GDT for this, I'm going to throw my shameless plug to the executive board for the draft.

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Matthew Eichenblatt and I'm a southern hockey enthusiast who loves the passion and culture of the south, and the game of hockey. I hate inept owners, commisioners who play favorites, and northerners who naysay the sport below the Mason-Dixon because we haven't had the sport since polar bears dominated Winnipeg.

I am a former HF contributer for both the Thrashers and Predators, so I like to think I'm a (somewhat) insightful contributer. I've played travel hockey and enjoy the intricate stuff of the game some might otherwise overlook. Again, I'm a staunch supporter of hockey in the south and grew up a Stars fan before Atlanta got a team. My earliest memories were of Belfour, Modano and Hatcher roaming the ice in their prime.

Though listed as the 31st best prospect, let me assure with my selection, you are getting a STARS fan, a southern hockey ambassador, and a much more avid poster than I've been in the past. I've since graduated from college and have more time on my hands to contribute and talk hockey amongst other fans.

On paper, it might be a reach--but if you look at exactly what you want in a pick: a supporter, hockey knowledge, passion, and a believer in grass roots growth of hockey in the beloved south, then it's no reach at all.

I will always love my Thrashers, but falling back on a first love can always cushion the blow.

I really like Kari and have kept an eye on the team for quite some time now since Ässät and Dallas have had some experiences with each other. Not much to show from that whole chabang, but hey there is Wandell.

You edited your post, but you may be pleasantly surprised at the physical element Wandell has added to his game. He's not afraid to go into the tough areas of the ice and has been known to throw a check or 2 of his own now and then.

Now, tell us everything you know about Eero Kilpelainen.

Well he was a top-3 goalie last season in SM-liiga in a good Ässät-team (for a change) after many years of mediocre seasons for him at best. Wasn't mentally strong and let in easy goals all the time, but last season was as solid as they came posting a 2.05 GAA and a 93.3 S% in 53 regular season games and a 1.78 GAA and a 93.6S% S% in the playoffs (was one of the few Ässät-players that actually was solid after the reg. season). A 6'1 - 165lb goalie so he doesn't cover the net that much and is a quick reflex-goalie. Good athlete and can be win games by himself. Interesting to see how he manages in Jokerit of Helsinki, since many players have failed there after good season in other clubs in SM-liiga.

This is the one I made for you featuring Kari (both the current version and as a Thrasher), it may have gotten lost in the chaos of the main thread:

Thanks for the info. We were talking about him a bit earlier here. Sometimes draft picks develop on their own timetables.

Oh didn't realize that. Cool one.

Yeah maybe if he gets another really solid season he might have a shot at something. I mean he would still be 27 and for a goalie that is not really old.
