Nice, a couple of people had good things to say about him in his time with the Whale.

Is this the guy some of you were comparing to Danny G?

He's on the Dan Girardi development path, but I think he has more offensive potential.

He was playing with V-Tank in HFT on their 2nd pair and I kinda like that defensive pairing although I admit I have never heard of him until today.

You can never have enough of those hard-working, do the little things type of player.

Is his physicality level similar to Girardi as well?

His NHL salary of $525,000 is the NHL minimum.

Parlett is 22 years old. 22-23 year olds sign a 2 year ELCs

Comparable, yeah. Parlett scraps a bit more regularly than Girardi as well, it seems.

I caught like 5 or 6 games Whale games at the end of the season, and I followed Parlett closely.

The only comparable attribute to Girardi is that they were both undrafted free agent signings. It ends there. Parlett is more offensive. He's a smooth skater, has a nice outlet pass, and was pretty effective in the offensive zone, especially considering his age and experience. Quarter backing the powerplay was his bread and butter from what I saw. Defensively, although it is an obscure comparison, he reminds me of Justin Faulk if any of you saw the US WJC games. By no means a stud, but he's intelligent and gets the job done. He's also fairly physical. You can also think of Del Zotto during preseason before his rookie year. I wouldn't expect a whole lot defensively from in the NHL though.

Parlett definitely earned a contract from what I saw. Hopefully he doesn't pull a Busto.

The Rangers have 34 SPCs

Parlett signed before June 1

Prohibited SPC practices

Quote:
(d) No Club or Player may enter into an SPC that does not cover at least the
then-current League Year. The foregoing does not apply to an SPC entered into pursuant
to Section 50.5(f) above, or to Unsigned Draft Choices or Draft Related Unrestricted Free
Agents, who shall be permitted to sign an SPC during the period from March 1 through
June 1 immediately preceding the League Year in which such SPC is to take effect.
If Parlett didn't sign before June 1,he couldn't sign a SPC until July 1.

So if Chris Kreider wants to turn pro and collect his $270,000 signing bonus,he has until tomorrow or its wait until July 1

We sure are stockpiling defensemen. We only need 7. There's got to eventually be a trade somewhere.

If you assume the defense of the future is some permutation of Staal, Girardi, Sauer, McDonagh, Del Zotto, and McIlrath, you still have guys like Valentenko and Kundratek and this guy who aren't on the pro team.

Well, we only need 12-14, not 7. So I really doubt signing some of these guys to ELC means a trade is coming.

Good signing. He played well in the AHL after his call up. Definitely ahead of Klassen, Baldwin and probably even Niemi. I'm not sure if some remember how Girardi got his start but there are similarites and if Parlett continues to improve he just might be another gem.

The RDS reporter Renaud Lavoie has to have a source in NHL Central Registry which is based in Montreal. He has reported the details of most of the recent signings on twitter before Cap Geek who also gets his info from a source in Central Registry.

4 of those guys have basically 1 year and less of experience so i'd think you have to still do your diligence and look for D-men b/c it's not guaranteed those 6 work out. Whale needs some D too. If Vtank continues progressing like last year he'll likely be a player for us. kundratek had solid improvement too.

You can never have too many good prospects at any position. The reason we were able to make the playoffs this year is due to our depth in the organization.

Things change from year to year. At the 2010 trade deadline, many folks on this board were using Sauer as a throw-in / sweetener for their trade proposals. Now he's a vital piece of the blue line.

Partlett is a quality blue liner, and he probably has more natural offensive ability than any of our d-men outside of Del Zotto. Whether or not he realizes that potential is obviously to be determined, but it's important to have talent in Hartford as often as possible.

I know he played well last year but how close is this kid to being ready to step into the NHL?

Does this give us a third pairing options with Vtank and Parlett since they played so well in CT?

Does this turn up the juice on Gilroy to sign his 2 year offer rather than holding out to be qualified which no one wants to do?
