I think Don Cherry's world is like a Coach's Corner segment. Except in his mind he doesn't need a temp to find video of something he was right about 6 years ago because he can just make it up.

Slam Sports is reporting rumours of Philly trading Carter. They apparently have had talks with Columbus. With Columbus' 1st rounder (8th overall) and a young forward, maybe RFA Jacob Voracek going to Philly for Carter.

Please no. Voracek was a stud in Halifax. I can't see him wearing the ugly Flyers logo.

Wouldn't it be nice to hear Montreal in play in some of the talks about big name players Like Carter?

Not sure how many of our young good players I could bear watching in a Philly uniform.

Seriously, there's 30 teams and there's how many trades involving a big name in a year, 2-3? Considering our situation where we're not really well positioned to give a lot for a trade (no highly talented players that are not part of our core or top draft pick to trade or piling of talent at the same position), I think people need to stop with these expectations.

Last time we heard Montreal's name in a trade involving a big name was Lecavalier, and if that trade went through we would've more than likely lost Subban along with Plekanec and some more, which would've seriously set us back.

Personally I don't so much want to see a big name trade than adding depths. I'd like some solid UFA signing like Laich or trading for a guy of this caliber (which doesn't cost a too high price in assets) and build around our current core. I think we have a lot of potential if we can have a healthy season, more than many realize.

I ask you this: Has there EVER been a group of players even more unlikeable as this one? Honestly..

Nathan Horton
Zdeno Chara
Milan Lucic
Brad Marchand
Dennis Seidenberg
Adam McQuaid
Shawn Thornton
Andrew Ference
Gregory Campbell
David Krejci

I don't know for sure, but if I was to look into this, I'd probably start by looking at the rosters of Flyers teams over the years

Personally, I'd add Tim Thomas to that list above but some people seem quite fond of him, not to mention Doctor: Who?

Players on Boston I legitimately hate (as in when somebody mentions them, my first thought is usually "**** him"):

Campbell
Horton
Lucic
Marchand
Recchi
Savard
Chara
Ference
Rask
Thomas

I am so glad the Canucks have home ice advantage. When playing in Vancouver they garotte the Bruins offense.

Did I just see that Drury is being bought out? Does that leave Gomez as the final "albatross" clinging onto any semblance of value? Aaah Sather, you really know when to put all your eggs in one basket...

Haha, oh yeah, good call. He still had a much better 2010/11 than Gomez though, imo. Sidelined by a couple of injuries, which is an excuse that Gomez doesn't share, and he was pretty steady throughout the first round of the playoffs (something we can't exactly say for Gomez, lol).

Carter isn't that great tbh. Seems a bit like a softy and not too great in the playoffs from what i recall.

Not saying he wouldn't improve our team, but who can we give up when Plek/Gomez are locked up long term?

They still have Gaborik at 7.5 mil, that one's right up there with Gomez...

Even if I give you that one, 42 goals two seasons ago and 48 points in 62 games last season qualify as a bit more than "clinging to any sense of value" in my books, despite the slightly sharp drop in GPG. He was pretty underwhelming in the playoffs again, though. And yeah, when added to the Gomez, Drury, Redden list, your point certainly stands.

LAtest from Mckenzie about coaching vacancies:

Coaching Carousel: smart $ on Paul MacLean to OTT, Glen Gulutzan to DAL, Craig MacTavish or Mike Yeo to MIN. Not done deals yet, just IMO.

Looks like Kirk might be staying.
