I work overnight's so I caught a lot of Oilers games on the radio. Really like the core and the way they are building the team.

As for me, as you can tell I was a lurker on the Thrashers board, but I would like to be more active here. I tend to be rather dry and analytical and won't be as fun as Sunshine, but I'd say that I know my hockey.

That being said, I look forward to some pre-draft talk and an exciting upcoming season. Thanks again!
Great to have you aboard!

Just pure curiosity, are tickets hard to get? Do you get much access with the players?

That's one thing that is a lot of fun about a non-hockey market. We saw Bobby Holik buying bagels. My friend waited on Enstrom and Oduya in a restaurant and was able to chat with them. Practice is open. If you wanted to go chat with Byfuglien, it was no problem.

Was Marty Reasoner popular? I really liked him. He was such a fun, nice guy off the ice and we really missed him on the penalty kill and in the face off circle when he was gone. I got to build a house with him and Chris Thorburn for Habitat for Humanity. My great claim to fame lol.
There's a season ticket waiting list, not living in Edmonton I can't speak too much about the tickets aspect but considering we're in a rebuild it'd obviously be easier to get tickets than if we were contenders.

Not sure about access to the players although there is usually an autograph signing or two that I am aware of annually.

Reasoner was well liked until our former head coach played him in offensive situations (which he did with a number of not so highly skilled players). Many would like to see him back in Oilers silks. Also good on you for helping out with Habitat for Humanity, that is a very good cause and a good sign that Oilbleeder added character as well, damn I guess I've got to give him some credit, his ego usually swells immensely when he gets credit for something

Welcome! Glad that your wife has the entire emotional range down pat Our team will be an exciting one to watch grow, on the bright side the two of you have missed the first 2 years of the rebuild so the rebuild will seem like its in fast forward for you both! There should be some very good days ahead for this club starting 2-3 years from now.

Do not listen to him, none of that...well most of that...okay it really is all true. Although I've only come near to an altercation 3 times. I'm mostly bark.

We've had Center Ice for about the past 5 years. I've sworn I wasn't going to get it this season because I want to financially support the NHL as little as possible. I would only be able to catch the weekend games anyway, but I can listen. I might change my mind though.

What's this!? Value added to the initial 8th overall in that we also pickup a highly touted College Free-Agent poster!?

Welcome aboard!

How much is center ice in the usa? I've heard it is cheaper there than in Canada, but I can understand why you wouldn't want to give the NHL money at this point.

Ah, yes. It's the cover of Unearthly Trance's 'V' album.
Besides being a great band, I've an affinity towards anything goat related.

So yeah, you've got a weirdo in Oilers Nation.

Checked out a couple songs on youtube. Kinda sounds like old school Mastodon except with not quite the same level of drumming Brann Dailor provides. Not bad though, haven't heard many bands like them.

Suppose being from the Atlanta area you must have had plenty of opportunities to see Mastodon? Did you follow them when they were still somewhat local?

Clearly you haven't been here long enough.

Can you put a spell on any opponents?

Or summon the Oiler gods that be that lurk deep in the shadow nether? Or Cthulhu call the unspeakably mighty one left for important occasions whose name goes unmentioned?

GDT's may be just your cup of tea.

heh, welcome to the board.

Yeah, we actually saw Brann at a couple of Thrashers practices last year. I've only seen them live locally once in the last 5 years, at the Scion Metal Fest that they curated. They always say they hate Atlanta and are going to move, but that's what everyone here says.
Most of the metal bands here are very Mastodon influenced - Kylesa, Baroness and Zoroaster.

Baroness are awesome. Me and my wife met John Dyer Baizley a few years ago at a coheed + baroness show and he was a great dude. We have a couple of his prints framed and hanging in our living room now.

Atlanta/Georgia's stoner rock/metal scene is awesome.
