I like it, and would also consider drafting Grimaldi with the 30th.
I just can't see Burke trading now (MacArthur) for future (Strome) especially when we need to win now as an organization.
You may be onto something, but Grimaldi will be long gone by #30, he's got some very good reviews by some professional scouts from what I hear, he could be the darkhorse of this draft.
I'd be shocked as hell if the sens do that trade, because during the lottery, the gm said he was happy with his position and likes that he can pick up a player that seems interesting (Zibanejad and strome got special attention that's for sure...)
So yea I can hope for a miracle if we can get into the top 10 or so.
Certainly is an interesting prospect, but the KHL factor is huge, and one that will probably stand in his way of being picked within the first 100 draft selections..
Is it up to each team's scouts to find out if European prospects want to stay in Europe or does each player/their agent inform the NHL of their plans before-hand?
The scouts usually have some information on what the player is going to do. They meet with some players during the season to talk and also something that discuss at combine/pre-draft.
You can bet it's a top question for Russian draftees.

Hockey writers are very high on him, some feel he is a R Fata, some don't. I see a competitive kid with a low center of gravity, who is very strong on the puck. The hockey sense is the question with him. He is one of many I'd take a chance on if the Leafs trade down and add a pick in the 2nd rd.
24. Detroit Red Wings – Oscar Klefbom, D, Farjestad (SEL)
At the NHL Draft Combine last week people were raving about Klefbom’s outgoing personality and overall impressive demeanor. Klefbom’s offensive upside is one of the highest in this year’s draft class as he likes to rush the puck and his tendency to lay the big hit will get Red Wing fans out of their seats as well.
25. Toronto Maple Leafs – ...
26. Washington Capitals – Vladislav Namestnikov, C, London (OHL)
The speedy and elusive Namestnikov plays a strong two-way game and prides himself on being responsible at both ends of the rink. In his first OHL season, Vladislav was quite impressive notching 30 goals and 68 points and played in all 68 games.
I'm okay with the picks. Not sure Burke would do all three of those guys.
How would you guys feel with Brett Ritchie at 30th?
not happy considering Mayfield, Khokhlachev, Musil, and Biggs were there. But, I do think there will be some surprises in the draft and guys who wouldn't fall will. Hopefully the scouting staff can pick it up.

Ive seen a few "experts" claim we need goaltending depth. Is there something I'm missing? For a few people to say this. I'm guessing they didn't really notice Reimer and just lump him as mediocre with Gus or something. And they probably don't think of Rynnas or Scrivens as anything. Weird.

I'd would rather take one of the two local boy defensemen(Sproul and Percy)
That's if we're J.T Miller(or another forward) at 25, Which I'd would have no problem with, But I'd rather he go play Plymouth then UND. Which is a fantastic school and all, But like most big teams in the NCAA they usually play their older players and he may get lost in the shuffle. If he goes to Plymouth he's guaranteed top6 minutes.
Work schedules me for 2 days this week and one of them is on the night of the draft. THE ****ING EVENT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO FOR 3 ******* MONTHS ****
Can someone record this for me? Pissed as all hell.

Final rankings from Mckeens (top 30). On this list a lot of names are in different places.
Grimaldi at 10?? I guess he's gained a lot of steam recently. The more I read and hear about him the more I hope he falls to the Leafs. I don't know if I'd take him at 25, depending on who is still around, but I'd definitely take him at 30. He just seems like one of those guys that is too driven to fail. He'll find a way to contribute effectively. I wonder if Burke will overlook his size.
