Not a chance he brings in a 17 year old to take Nurse's spot.. the kid is a 3rd overall pick, who is developing just fine so far. We do need an extra body back there, but he wont be coming in to take time away from Nurse.

If Dubas is serious about winning the OHL championship he will bring in an older defenseman. How many teams win championships with 16 year olds in their top 6 D? Willing to bet not that many.
It's not a slight against Nurse, he will be a good player in this league, just don't be surprised when Dubas brings in another veteran to ideally pair with Sproul on the 2nd pairing and bump down Miller to the 3rd pairing with Schwindt.
I know not alot of teams win with a 16 year old, Nurse probably only plays 10 mins a game, and I just cant see us taking him completely out of the line up. If we are gonna be good for a few years, we need him to get that experience.. If we do acquire a vet d-man, I wont be upset but I would wait until the deadline to see if its even necessary.
Don't think he wants to go too long without another defenceman, only people we have that might be able to fill in on a short term basis would be Thibodeau and Dubchak. Both did it during the exhibition games when half the D were gone to training camps or injured.
Any top 6 forwards besides Knight/Spooner/McKegg that might be available? I think Knight would be ideal being a RW, could take Alderson's spot with Cousins and Broll. Downside is he's probably the one to draw the biggest return.
Great trade for the Hounds I think this solidifies the goaltending and the blueline for another 3 seasons. It was costly to say the least but we had lots of extra picks from other deals.
I think this move does however push us to win now which is a good thing. He has got to be looking for a sniper on the wing to solidify the forward core. Also we are going to need a depth dman.
There are not done yet. They are very heavy in discussions for an impact forward.
Any hints???
I have no problem believing that they are going to add a top notch forward - it wouldn't make sense if they didn't. Really, they have enough assets to get two impact players without giving up anyone on their roster.
Have you heard anything on London's intensions? Sitting in first place, with a young team and shopping one of their best forwards?
The 3 big names as for the forwards are McKegg,Spooner and Knight. I imagine draft picks and 94's or 93's will be involved for any one of these players
Congratz to the Sault and Jack Campbell for his first post trade win. I see he got a 2 minute penalty for diving, it looks like he's already taking on the identity of his new team. What's the verdict of the Sault faithful after seeing him play for the first time, any buyers remorse or is he worth the investment?

Well Torombolo re the identiy crisis..he says he is trying to get rid of the identity he learnt from your sheep dog..and the current Spitfires..
They say the team that gets the best player wins the trade..seeing the present is all anyone can live ..how in hell could we complain..he looks a helluva lot better in a Hound uniform..
Don't think we have to be too concerned about your Spits kicking our ass 12-1 for awhile..(That did smart)
I would think Windsor would not be in their present position if they had managed their assets a bit better last year....
Everyone i have talked is happy to see Campbell here..and hey so is he..
Hopefully Campbell starts again, Ottawa is a good squad and we need points.
Good to see Elsner picking it up, as Schumacher is out... nice to have euro forwards who actually contribute on the score sheet. Dubas got 2 in his first draft, better then Torrie had his entire tenure.. Oh and Dubas moved one who will never play here for a 2nd rounder.
Gianluca Curcuruto and David Broll both healthy scratches, Schumacher as well but I dont think he would be involved in any trade.
I think maybe Dubas might has something brewing..I havent heard why Gianluca or David are both scratched, so we may have some news tomorrow ?
Anyone hear anything about this or anything else ?
Dubas tweeted that there are no more trades, and that everything out there is a rumor... I tend to believe Dubas because when trades are around the corner, his twitter gets quite and he doesn't respond.... Usually when he is tweeting and interacting with fans, thinks are calm.
Nurse has been steady, and often in the defensive end you don't notice him.. Which is good for a 16 year old on the back end, his offense is still coming but the team is easing him in pretty well. He can skate the puck out of trouble, and really reminds me in that aspect of a Muzzin or Daley type defensemen. He plays with a big edge, and you can see where the Chris Pronger comparisons come from, I really like this kid and dont expect big things out of him this year on a veteran back end, but I think he is going to be a monster next year, and for years to come.
Halagian has been consistent and has been used in a shut down role, which shows the confidence the coaching staff has in him. He finishes alot of checks, and scored his first goal this past week. I don't think he has top line talent, but its hard to tell with a kid who play 5-10 minuets a game as a rookie, on a checking line. I think he can be a solid 2nd or 3rd liner, who will contribute offensively on regular occasions once he gets a little more experience, and few bodies ahead of him graduate.
Big, BIG weekend for the Hounds, playing 3 games in 2.5 days. London, Plymouth and Windsor all on the road, I would be happy with 4 points, and that shouldn't be too much too ask, we have won 5 of 6 on the road recently.
I would expect Murray to get the Plymouth start? So Campbell plays London, and gets to return to Windsor.
spits are in NFalls the night before, wont get into town until 3 am
the sunday game is at 2.00 oclock
the hounds are in plymouth a half hour drive to windsor
big difference,brutal scheduling
Thats okay, the Hounds have more then their share of bad road schedules, I believe we play 10 afternoon games this year.. that seems abnormally high. Also doesnt help being 3.5 hours further west then any team in the league.
Im looking forward to the game Friday night at the Beercase (JLC)
Soo wants to occupy the perch London currently hold after a torrid start. London is a tough place to get wins usually, but this Soo team presents specific challenges for sure.
The addition of Campbell has to give them some confidence.
I wonder if the contest picks up where the last one left off, or do they just go out and play? Soo has to have the edge in scrappers, esp with Tinordis recent facial injury. But the Knights will have to play smart, and stand up as a team.
Im sure Cousins will play his reg game and the Knights (esp Jknight) need to tread carefully.
