Keep in mind, we already know Wii U is more powerful than the 360 and PS3. This isn't a case of overshooting on power, and one of these games was actually running on the Wii U hardware and playable on the show floor. Another is being demoed today. And the developer of a third says the Wii U version will look superior to the 360/PS3 versions.
Gonna take your word for it boss. Looking forward to it

Yeah, the color of the sky is clearly the same as discussion about the weight of the controller, which you originated. If it meant nothing and was useless why would you bring it up?

And I'm the one looking like a fool? Fanboys are unbelievable.

"It's like the colour of the sky!!!" No, it's not the same argument at all, and That's looking like a fool.

Nintendo's a smart company. It'll be good and it'll sell. Will I buy it? Maybe not. That controller looks like a ****ing abomination.

I'm intrigued. Looks like it could potentially be neat.

The one thing I DON'T like - from what I've read so far, the jacked-up controller is NOT going to be required for most games. If that's actually the case, then it seems like the features for the new controller are gonna be somewhat neutered.

Still? I am intrigued. More than I was when the Wii was announced (I never bought one). High hopes for Nintendo here.

The market didn't like the heavy focus on 3rd party "mature" titles. Wall Street wants Nintendo to stayy focused only on the casual market.

Yeah, we'll just have to wait and see on release.

I don't think the causal market is gonna leave Nintendo at all.

most likely because they know they can't compete with Sony and Microsoft. they obviously don't want to go back to their 'losing ways' of the Gamecube and Nintendo64 ...both of which were last place material next to Sony's consoles at the time.

I didnt bring it up. I responded to a question. Im not a fanboy. You can find me criticizing and supporting all 3 game companies on here. I own all current consoles and a gaming PC. I just dont put up with people being ridiculous. You have no idea what you are talking about. All we can go on is what people who have actually held it have said. They have unanimously loved it.

Nintendo pretty much is the casual market. It seems like all of the big, family-friendly games for the Nintendo are made by Nintendo: all of the Mario stuff, most of the sports/fitness stuff, Donkey Kong stuff and so on. As long as Nintendo, itself, sticks to creating family games and doesn't get into making their own hardcore shooters and the like, the casual market should continue to be in their pocket. The fact that they're listening and working with developers of hardcore titles has almost no bearing on what they choose to develop and focus on, themselves.

The thing I wonder is.

Are the families who are casual gamers going to want to upgrade to the next half-gen system?

Are the hardcore gamers going to want a system that is marginally better than the systems released in 2005?

I can say with full confidence that I don't know anyone (casual gamer or hardcore) that is going to buy this new system. Obviously that's just based on what I know but I guess we'll see.

I just hope this isn't a Gamecube 2.0

And I owned a Gamecube

The console is at least a year away from launch, and probably more. A lot can change in that time, in terms of hardware and design.

Also, a lot will depend on the launch title line-up. And also on what Nintendo bundles with it. Does anyone think that the Wii would have started out of the gate so strongly if it didn't have Wii Sports as a system mover? If Nintendo includes a bundled software that shows off the unique strengths of the system in a compelling and accessible way, people will buy it.

I think the order of value goes something like this:

Fringe journeyman NHLers < Bottom six NHLers < Top six NHLers < 3rd round draft picks < Established star players < 2nd round draft pick < Superstar player and perenniel All-Star < Prospects < Generational talent NHLer < 1st round draft pick.

After 5 I'm a little more medicated in terms of the ADD. After a long ass day at work where often times I'm really bored I'll be home finally and much more relaxed.

Other than the "switch from your tv to the control" to play games, this looks really awful, imo. It'll sell incredibly well and will be copied by Sony and MS, though.

It's a semi-copy of DC anyways only done much better.

They basically took an iPad and made it into a videogame controller.

It will definitely sell but I can't help but feel it's a glorified DS without the stylus. It's basically your "bottom screen".

While it's a good idea and could work well just like the DS, if the controllers cost like 100-200$ (didn't research but I'd imagine they won't be 50$) that would be pretty ridiculous.

Thats the thing though. It almost looks like you can do the exact same thing with the PSV.

No, that's not what it is at all.

Unlike the iPad or DS, the WiiU controller is not an independent device. It's not capable of doing anything on it's own. It's only a display/input device. All the guts are inside the console, and data is wirelessly streamed to the controller.

People need to stop thinking of the controller as a tablet, because that's not what it is.

I think the comparison is that it is like playing with a tablet. I don't think anybody expects to be able to play with just the controller and nothing else.
