Your right, I also didn't notice he labeled it The top 10 Forwards for the 2001 draft.

Not sure if we have White's replacement in the organization, unless you want to pigeonhole Tallinder there.
I like your future defense. I don't know if White will be back when his contract is up. If he isn't I think Corrente can play his role as a shutdown guy that plays with an edge to his game.

If we draft Larsson.

He had a pretty good sophomore season. He played in every game, and according to observers, he was on the Gophers' top pairing most of the season with Fairchild.

From what I've heard and from the very little I've seen, it looks like he moves well for a big guy, as well.

He's never been mistaken for an offensive guy, or even a two-way defender, but they thought highly enough of him to take him in the fourth round and it seems like he's coming into his own.

Another guy in a similar situation (put polar opposites in terms of the players they are) is Faust. I expect him to move up the depth chart significantly in his sophomore season, and hopefully get some powerplay time. Another fourth rounder.

I appreciate Red Line for its free monthly articles, but their past mocks have been quite terrible, so I wouldn't put much stock in this. A couple years back, he started putting videos on YouTube and I distinctly remember one where he used the rationale "Minnesota needs a center for Gaborik"......and I immediately thought "Gaborik is going to leave Minnesota in like ten days."

And this is just a listing for how they rank the forwards, not necessarily a mock draft. He made a similar list in 2003 where Eric Staal was the 7th best forward on his list.

Jessiman will be the better player

Is merrill that much of a mobile dman? he didn't seem to be a carrier more than a great passer from the games I saw

He isn't mobile in the sense that he is going to go end to end with the puck, but he is mobile for a player his size. I can see him being able to rush the puck up to the blue line and dump it in or dish it off to someone. He definitely could work on his skating. He needs to get a little faster.

He reminds me of Tallinder skating-wise. Very smooth stride and excellent at avoiding/outskating forecheckers.

Honestly, I think his smarts and positioning negate the need to really open it up all that much, at least at the level he's playing at.

Watch his one goal in the Big Chill. He joins in on a two-on-one with a forward and buries it. He can skate when he has to. I wouldn't say foot speed is a concern.

There were a couple of times during the national championship where I thought he got burned by a forward. Now if he is having a little bit of problems with forwards in NCAA he is going to have to improve his speed for the NHL. What happens when Ovechkin is one on one with him and tries to take it around him? He is great with his positioning defensively, but I think he needs to improve his foot speed.

I don't think he'll be making any runs with the puck either. He can make a good pass and knows when to help out offensively. I'm not concerned but I won't get into thinking he'll be something I don't think he'll be

I honestly could see Merill turning into a Seabrook with a little more offensive flair then physicality.

Normally, I wouldn't have saw it, but I'm at my moms store and those boards aren't minimized here as they are at home.

So

I see Larsson more as a mobile guy than a shutdown. Don't forget we have 5 more picks this draft that can turn into that shut down D-man. I think Urbom is more of a shutdown guy, although he's not afraid to join the rush.

I wouldn't say I'm setting myself or anyone else up to think he's something he won't be, just addressing concerns about his skating/foot speed.

No, it's not elite and he won't be making too many end-to-end runs, but I don't see it as a weakness, is all I'm saying.

I just don't get how Landeskog is the guy to build around, at least on this team. We have Kovy and Parise. Now, I'm not saying we shouldn't take him because he's a winger, but I'm curious as to how he becomes the focal point of the offense when we have two 40 goal wingers already on our hands.

I believe Larsson is very good at shutting down people on defense. I thought was his best quality. He is so good defensively and likes to play with some grit. I think his skating and offense are just pluses to his great defense. Larsson is definitely more of a shutdown guy than Urbom.

It isn't a major weakness. If he improves his skating he can be a top pairing defenseman. Otherwise I see him as more of a top 4 defenseman.

I wouldn't say we would be building around Landeskog as much as he would be adding to the core of a team.
