I just figured it would be fun to get a thread for guesses on his contract, even if he doesn't end up signing with us, post your contract guesses here!

5 years, 30 million.

He will only be 37 at end of that deal so no way he goes for 2 mil in back to back years + NHL would see this as clear circumvention of cap under new rules created last summer

I don't want a cap hit higher than 6, it wouldn't make sense IMO.

Trading Carle would be stupid especially with Pronger/Timonen's off season surgeries.

I feel like goalies playing around 37 at a high level is an exception and not the norm. Plus, if Bryz was going to be playing at the end of that deal, it wouldn't be considered cap circumvention. The reason why contracts get reviewed is because their are years paying players $500,000-$1,000,000 when the player is in their 40's and is almost a lock to not be playing.

I'll say roughly 27 million total over a 5 year term.

Homer has gotten players to sign below market value, and if Ilya wants to get paid and win, his options are pretty slim and this is his best option depending on what he is looking for.

**** the cap hit. What about the length of contract. I'd take a contract of 6.5 for 2-3 years than extend his contract for 4 or more years.

What's the logic behind that? Keep the cap hit down, and bury him or trade him if he starts to suck.

He's not signing a 2-3 year contract.

I could live with this. As long as the cap hit isn't above 5.5 million a year then I'll be happy.

Bryz is looking for a long term deal so at some point, maybe next off-season, Bobrovsky will have to be moved...1.75 is a lot for a backup.

Whatever the hell it is $ wise, his agents interview made it sound like he is going to be intent on a no trade clause. That's kinda rough having so many on the team, hypothetically.

We disagree. If you make an agreement not to trade a player in good faith, then have to leverage all types of **** against that player in order to get him to waive that clause, that's poor form, and will not make you an attractive free agent destination. There's also the possibility they just can't get the player to waive it even if they need him to, which is difficult.

NTC just means the player chooses where he wants to go

Yeah, it seems like players are willing to waive their NTC, they just want to have a say in where they go.
