Actually grabbing Bergfors is not a horrible idea. He went to Atlanta and a lot of guys have played poorly in that situation. He did not see regular ice time and Craig Ramsey and the rest did not have time to prop him up.
I wouldn't be opposed to trading Versteeg to Florida for a package of Bergfors and a second round pick.
Also could we be interested in signing Chris Drury now that he's about to be bought out. He could contribute as a fourthline center with good faceoff skills and PK. Good friend with Danny B...maybe for a league minimum

This. I don't see why everyone is in such a rush to get rid of Richards' first legitimate winger in a while. Give the guy the chance to really prove himself. He's far more valuable to the club than whatever you'll get for him.
And I HATED the trade for him when we made it.
$$
Bryzgalov > Versteeg + Carle
Not that I have anything against Versteeg, but with his cap hit, he is worth moving to fit Bryz under.

Buy low move, worth a shot.

Drury for $1mill would be epic, just to piss of Ranger fans. I'm sure he is serviceable still, worth $1mill anyway.
I would as well. Improves scoring depth at least, but not by much
Lol yea I know. I don't know if he'd be that cheap, in fact I really doubt it, but at that price and on the 3rd or 4th line he'd be an awesome pickup. I think he'd definitely be a guy that would help us win.

I'd be all for a 1-2 year deal for around $1 - $1.5m to see what he can do. We could see if has any scoring touch with Danny, but I'd probably rather go with something like this
I've been saying that maybe Talbot could be a guy for our 3rd line because he'd be cheap. Nodl- Drury- Talbot might make a good checking line. That's assuming we realize we can't roll 3 scoring lines with an expensive goalie.
I would in a heartbeat, which tells me Winnipeg wouldn't even consider it.
They need wingers and rumours about maybe Buff going back to forward opens up a spot for off. dman. Bogo apparently disgruntled and would save us about 4 mill in cap space.

It's so weird reading "Winnipeg wouldn't even consider it."
I'm so glad Atlanta is moving to a market that will support a good team, but I'm still not used to the concept at all. It's a little mindblowing when you actually put it into practice.
On a side note, I'd totally take Drury for cheap. He'd give us a solid faceoff guy and great defensive center who can block a ton of shots and kill penalties while shutting people down. People hated him for the Rags because his contract was ludicrous for the type of player he is...but for the right price you gotta love a guy like that.
