Wojtek Wolski

The Blueshirts also appear likely to buy out the remaining year on midseason pickup Wojtek Wolski's deal, saving another $3.3 million next season while incurring a $666,667 charge in 2012-13.
Thoughts?

He's been kinda soft, but the guy has skill.

Sadly, not a Bylsma type player.

I'd bring him in on a cheap 1 year deal. Wolski needs to pick his next destination very carefully, he needs to find the right fit not the most money.

For the right price, why not, I think he would mesh well with Malkin. But he definitely has to change his game bit. But I doubt he would sign for less than 2.0.

I would say yes, however he's just another left handed shooter on the LW, we need a RW with a right handed shot.

Dury and Wolski being bought out... So how much money are the Rangers going to throw at Richards?

Yes, although I can't see it happening and I'd only do it on a short-term cheap deal.

You know what they say, money talk$. As for taking him on, why not? He does have the potential to do big things from his junior days and in Colorado, but I would put a $2 million cap on signing him.

Wolski wasn't waived. You got me extremely happy for a second.

The Rangers have an uncanny way of getting out of the lousy contracts they hand out.

Man, that epic free agency that the Rags had a few years back really panned out well for them...

True.
But they didnt sign Wolski, they traded Roszival for him. Same thing really.

Phoenix gave him that contract, wanted him to switch to center for Whitney and Doan. I thought itd be great, drafted him late in my fantasy hockey league.....that sucked.

I say we go after Drury. We always talk about how playoffs are more important than the regular season. For a team like the Rangers, they need to be worried about the regular season. For us, we know we are almost guaranteed a playoff spot (thanks uncle gary). Drury is a monster when healthy in the playoffs, or close to healthy. 1 year, 1.2 million. I'd even go 2 years at 1.2 per.

Kunitz-Crosby-Jeffrey
Neal-Malkin-Drury
Cooke-Staal-TK
Rupp-Adams-Asham/Talbot/Johnson

yeahhhhhhhhhh budddyyyyyyyyy

I had thought about Drury, as a replacement for Talbot and maybe Adams.
I was thinking 4th line energy/veteran guy and PKer. Hows his faceoffs?

Maybe Im rating him too low.

With Malkin or even Sid, possibly, he can flourish.

I'd definitely take a jab at getting him signed for Dupuis money

Suddenly, he's jumped to the top of my list regarding other team's UFAs that are available this year.

If we can get Drury for $1.2M, I'd even consider trading Kennedy for a really good prospect, and signing both Wolski + Drury for cheap.

Its not that I don't want Kennedy back but essentially, we'd be getting something for him and the other 2 UFAs for free.

Or we could keep Dupuis and be certain we're getting 15 goals, good PKing, energy, top 6 in a pinch and a healthy player rather than risking it on Drury. It's posts like this that make it really obvious why none of us GMs.

Wolski would be a horrible fit for you guys.

He's soft, inconsistent, and ineffective nearly every shift.

Million dollar talent, ten cent brain.

And, besides, where would you play him? Both Neal and Kunitz are infinitely more effective than Wolski.

This is sad but true. A lot of people are hoping for the player he was and that would be nice. But they aren't thinking about how bad he most likely will be.

If Torts doesn't like you then DB probably isn't a fan either. Two coaches that put a big emphasis on busting your ass every shift.

As som1 that has seen a lot of him, to get him would be just like picking up any player that "can" play but rarely does. Wolski is prob top 10 in the nhl in shootouts but his numbers dont lie. He would not mesh with Malkin and i know that for a fact based on his style. He isnt worth the price for this team.

Let some other team with deeper pockets pick him up.

Wolski has the skill, he needs to go back to his aggressive ways he showed when he first entered the league.

Wolski on a line with Malkin and Neal would be nice. Wolski's playmaking abilities would mesh well with Geno, along with Neal's aggressive play.

As long as Sid has Kunitz, he'll be fine with TFK on his RW

I don't understand this board sometimes. We may potentially have the cap space to sign a Jokinen, Leino, maaybe Ryder, Upshall, etc. and some people are against it. Yet, the New York Rangers, who aren't busting at the seem with talented forwards, are looking to dump two overpaid players (one that is talented but hasn't shown an ounce of consistent effort or drive, and 2 an over the hill, injured, has been) and people are chomping at the bit to throw them $2 mil and a pens sweater. Give me a break.

id say no, if its gonna take what i think to get him then its to big of a risk. if were gonna spend money go big for someone like jokinen, upshall, or lenio. if not wait for the trade deadline and use that money.

looks like rangers clearing a good bit of cap room. id be suprised if richards is still a FA one the third.
