Auld should be back. A lot of people want Garon back but Auld would definitely be my first option.

the things a former #1 goalie will say to hang on to the bottom rung of the NHL ladder. Auld's future as a well paid backup now hinges on the sweetness of what comes out of his mouth.

Auld was pretty much the perfect backup last year, and I still say his presence had more to do with Price's success than people give credit for. I'd take him back in a heartbeat.

Don't know where to post it, but Stralman and Lepisto will not be qualified.

I'd take a Flyer on one of them personally. Maybe Lepisto. But we have enough bottom pairing dmen

Jagr to Montreal almost done unless Pittsburgh up's the dollar amount, but Montreal it is and has always been for Jagr.

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklun...-Laich/1/36695

So...

Cammalleri - Plekanec - Jagr
Pacioretty - Gomez - Gionta
Kostitsyn - Eller - Laich
White - Desharnais - Moen
Darche

Markov - Gorges
Gill - Subban
Weber - Yemelin
Spacek

Price
Auld

Your source is Eklund. The chances of having Jagr in Montreal are not better or worst than they were before.

That said, McKenzie said that we were among the three teams remaining and I believe it.

And for the record, Jagr can't signed before July 1st so I don't see how it would be almost done.

Auld has pretty much stated that his job was to prop Price up from day one. It's not like he's turned to this tactic suddenly. Here's what Auld had to say the day after signing last year:

Quote:
“We didn’t talk about a specific number of games, but more about the role I would have with the team,” Auld said. “They want me to help Carey Price get better and that is exactly what I want to do.”

“It’s a nice challenge for me and I plan on living up to it. The success of the team I am playing for is always my priority.”
http://www.hockeyinsideout.com/news/...with-canadiens

I don't really see why the Habs wouldn't sign Auld, seeing how many games Price should get. Auld is humble enough to accept his role and is willing to do what's necessary to help Price succeed.

Jagr is NOT what this team needs!

We need players like Laich/Konopka/Leino.

I have had enough of these cream-puff players on our team.

at the contradiction in the bold.

I've thought about bringing Konopka in once, but the more I think about it, the more i realize that I don't actually want him.

How can we need players 'like' these three when these three players are nothing like each other?

I've just sent my Habs Jersey to a store to get #68 and Jagr on the back. And all that, thanks to the legendary Eklund!

According to Eklund, Bieksa re-signed with Vancouver. The value of Wiz just went up.

I think we need to bring in one of Jagr or Laich to play with Pleks and Cammy.

After that, I would like to see Kopecky take a third line spot with Eller and Kostitsyn.

CAPGEEK.COM CAP CALCULATOR

FORWARDS
Mike Cammalleri ($6.000m) / Tomas Plekanec ($5.000m) / Brooks Laich or Jaromir Jagr($4.000m)
Brian Gionta ($5.000m) / Scott Gomez ($7.357m) / Max Pacioretty ($1.625m)
Tomas Kopecky ($2.500m) / Lars Eller ($1.270m) / Andrei Kostitsyn ($3.250m)
Mathieu Darche ($0.700m) / David Desharnais ($0.850m) / Travis Moen ($1.500m)
Ryan White ($0.500m)

DEFENSEMEN
Andrei Markov ($5.750m) / P.K. Subban ($0.875m)
Hal Gill ($2.250m) / Josh Gorges ($1.100m)
Jaroslav Spacek ($3.833m) / Alexei Yemelin ($0.984m)
Yannick Weber ($0.500m) / Raphael Diaz ($0.900m)

GOALTENDERS
Carey Price ($2.750m) / Alex Auld ($1.000m)

BUYOUTS: Georges Laraque ($0.500m)

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $59,995,509; BONUSES: $400,000
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $4,304,491

Lots of cap space left for a deadline acquisition or if PG gets bold to make a big splash. Desharnais can play third line until Eller gets healthy. Palushaj, Engqvist can be call ups.

What about Jagr AND Konopka? We could definitely use a talented top 6 forward who loves the city and isn't afraid of the media.

He took less money to stay with Vancouver (according to Ek).

I wish Wiz walked the walked instead of talking the talk and took a hometown discount...

I wouldn't mind Laich, but there's no space for Konopka.
I also think many would be disappointed of Leino. I'm not overly convinced about his potential. I'd rather take a risk on Laich. Although both will probably be overpaid, which is what is making Jagr so interesting. 2.5M for Jagr, you'd have to be an idiot to pass it up. We're paying Gill about the same thing...
In any event, there is no room for Konopka.
We need to sign a top 6 no matter who it is, Jagr, Laich, Leino, wtv..
That means Gomez-Plek-UFA-Cammy-MaxPac-Gionta are likely to constitute our top 2 lines. I want AK with Eller and DD, I think that trio could potentially dominate bottom liners. Ideally, that would be our top 9 players. Which means Pyatt, White, Darche and Moen would be left to battle for the 4th line duties. So, no space for Konopka.

Personally, I'm hoping Sharp becomes available.

He spent 4 months and played 43 games here. There is pretty much no reason for Wiz to give Montreal a 'hometown' discount.

We need a regular 4th line center and Pyatt isn't that. Konopka would be a great fit there IMO and a huge upgrade over Pyatt.

I guess there is no space available for a 4th liner who can fight and win key face-offs, yet there is space for Pyatt and Darche?

What's wrong with Desharnais? He's much better than Pyatt or Konopoka at even-strength and is capable of playing on both special teams.

We need to get bigger and tougher on the 4th line. If we had big and tough forwards on the top 6, I would not mind but it's not the case. We need to change our philosophy regarding the 4th line. I would keep DD on the 3rd with Eller and AK.

Huge upgrade? How so? Maybe in the faceoff department but that's about it. They are pretty much on par for offensive production, Konopka is not more defensively responsible, at all, that goes to Pyatt. Pyatt also has a huge edge in the Penalty killing department.
Konopka is a scrapper, the man had 25 majors last year. Pyatt had 9 penalty minutes, one of which was a fight he didn't even want to participate in vs Campbell.
I don't know any bottom liner that will be able to get away with 31 minor penalties with Martin behind the bench. He will be scratched sooner than later.
White can also play center, he needs to improve his faceoffs, but other than that, I can see him centering Moen/Darche.
I don't particularly care for having Konopka here. We have our ''tough'' guy in White. The other three lines, I want them to be offensive minded.
