Lafleur - I give him the edge over greats like Richard and Beliveau mainly cause I grew up watching Guy play and his shot on the fly down that right wing is a classic memory, one that he played over and over. He drank and smoked, and did not have to work the hardest out there, but the talent was fun to watch. He was a game breaker.
Robinson - Same era, but he was something to behold on the blueline. Long reach, made you pay in the corners and in front of the net, and a long stride that suddenly had him behind the opponent's net in no time. His offensive abilities made you pay the price in both ends of the rink. No defenceman since has been such a complete package.
Koivu - Here is a guy who has battled cancer, has come back and is an inspiration to other players through his quiet work ethic. Not one of those big cheerleader captains, but you know he just goes out there and works hard and leads by example.
Begin - An interesting pick given the other talented players we have, but here is a player whom both Calgary and Buffalo would likely want back in a second. A cast off by the age of 25, he has resurrected himself like the proverbial phoenix through hard work and great energy. He not only made the team after being an obscure waiver pick up, but was sorely missed during a mid-season injury. Here is a guy who face planted into the boards during the playoffs, lost about 250 teeth, got stitched up, and came back before the game was done. Most of us likely thought he was out for weeks. If he was bigger and had more skill, he would be a perennial all-star. Instead, he is an important part of the new Habs' "team" that is emerging.
Patrick Roy no doubt, and Kirk Muller, although i never seen Robinson play i hear stories that neither any of the big bad bruins or the broad street bullies would care to tangel with him. Anyone that tough, you gotta love em.
Right now, probably Ryder, what a story, and Komisarek he is my pick to be another Robinson, and Koivu, prolly the toughest Son'a'Biaoch there ever was in the NHL.
Traverse now , Gaston Gingras then....but all time greatest Hab has got to be unanimoulsy (yes I know for a fact everyone agrees with me) the mascot Youppi! ok that's baseball.... I know...Schwartz smoked meat!!!!
