To bring some Mets talk here, Murph is the ****ing man and I think he should be the starting second basemen when everyone is healthy/ next year.

Jose
Murph
Wright
Ike
Pagan
Duda
Bay
C
P

Is what I would do.

Montero doing his thing in 2nd half again. .913 OPS since July 1st (13 games).

Also maybe Javier Vazquez wasn't as useless as we all thought.

Seriously hope Montero is with the team August 1 if they don't trade him, you can find at bat's for a young player with that much talent.

Do you have a site you prefer that tracks all the Yankees' farmhands, DSOG? Or do you just hunt and peck through MiLB to check on them? Thanks!

EDIT: Montero's numbers are excellent as you say (3 for 4 with another HR tonight), but great googlie mooglie, check out Bichette over the last 10 games: .564 AVG, .640 OBP, . 872 SLG, 1.512 OPS. I know it's only GCL, but that's some slash line. (Plus, it's really cool that he's Dante Bichette's kid.)

For me I just check the affiliation game days daily to keep track with top prospects.

I do that occasionally and I also subscribe to Baseball America's prospect report emails (which highlight the top prospect performances for all the teams on a daily basis), but I'd love a resource that tracks all the Yankees' top prospects and updates daily on their progress. If anyone is aware of anything along those lines, please share!

I swore CC was going to throw a perfecto today. Was so disappointed when he lost it.

Ervin Santana gives up a run but throws a no hitter anyway.

Sounds like it's Zach Wheeler headed to the Mets as the price for Beltran. On BA's top 50 prospects, Wheeler was #35; Matt Harvey was #30.

Didn't seem like it though he came out and said his problem with the AL was he didn't want to DH. Regardless, he definitely preferred to stay in the NL.

Zack Wheeler is a terrific pitching prospect. Good return.

The Sox don't need offense, they're looking for pitching.

I'm not sure if going to the AL was a problem for Beltran. He does want to play for a contender but he doesn't want to dh. I believe Boston has had Ortiz as their DH for as long as he's been in the league.
I would certainly take Beltran over J.D. Drew in rf. I know Drew's been there for quite a while now so maybe Francona is worried that if the Sox do acquire Beltran, it could have a negative effect on the atmosphere in the club house. Especially at this time of the year.

I don't think the Yanks were after Beltran so that could be another reason for Boston to stay out of it.

Sad to see Beltran go. Seems like a guy who never got the respect he deserved.

Never did here in NY. I've already ranted here about this but it's all because of that one ****ing at bat in 06 and his laid back personality. Apparently because you're calm and don't toss things in the dugout, you don't care. Same thing happened here with Drury and his personality.

Beltran was one of the most under appreciated Mets in history IMO.

That's disappointing. He really was fantastic this year and from all accounts was just as good in every other year sans his injured one last year. The fact that reporters have called into question his work ethic and locker room presence too is just absolutely ludicrous.

Then you have stuff like this:

And it should be apparent he's a great person. Hope he can win a ring with the Giants, though I was hoping in my first season as a fan he'd win a ring here .

The guy we got back isn't a slouch though, and perhaps Sandy looks into reacquiring him in the off-season he if does want to end his career as a Met. With Boras as his agent though I don't see it happening, and I doubt he'd want to actually come back and deal with the New York media again.

Francona has been playing Reddick over Drew (who just went on the dl) and Reddick has been playing quite well. There's really no reason for them to deal for an outfielder.

I think if he can win a ring before he retires and has 3~ more productive seasons, he could be a Hall of Famer.

It's not crazy to think he can reach 70 WAR (he's at 61 already) unless his knee suddenly blows out again, and there's only 3 or 4 eligible HOFers with that much WAR not in, one of them being Pete Rose. With his other stats, I think if he can get a ring the Hall of Fame bid for him could be very interesting. Sadly I don't think he'll get in, because he's not viewed as a Hall of Famer even though his stats very much support the idea.

Loved Beltran as a Met. Best Met CF ever, and probably one of the 5 best players in a Met uniform. It's said to see him go.
