Jon Miller doesn't do Sunday Night Baseball anymore.

Also, David Wright is on fire.

Nope. That's most definitely false. A 6.1 WAR with a career average of 4.76 WAR a season beats a 3.1 WAR with a career average of 3.9 WAR a season.

It was 2-0 Mets, I grabbed a bite to eat, and it's 5-2 Braves. What the hell happened here?

I don't know, I stopped watching after the Uggla hit. I decided i'm going to not ruin my night and save myself the anger of watching us suck for the 6th game straight. Probably some fielding errors, if I had to guess.

And of course when I say that it looks like Jason Bay of all people hits a 2 run homer.

We'll still probably lose by a run or two.

Ah yes Rangers mentality. Don't remind me. I have to go back to that when it's not baseball season.

If I had to choose I'd take Pedroia. I think both players benefit greatly from the lineups that they're in, but even with Cano's crazy talent, Pedroia's numbers are right there with him and better in some spots.

Not to mention you've got one player who plays the game the right way, every time out. And another who...not so much.
----------------------------
Let's hope Gee gets us a win today.

The Pads are coming in for four and playing really good ball...errrr or maybe not since the Pirates have just hit a wall.

Always gotta have hope IMO. I have zero, but I'm trying. Win today. 4 game sweet of SD. Give us something to cheer about the last month and a half boys. Please.

Not that we'll play well against SD though. In fact, I'd probably guess 2-2.

Interesting pitching match ups for that series. It will be big if we can win today and Pelfrey finds a way to outduel Stauffer. Not likely though.

Then win the battle of lefties on Tuesday. Hope Dickey can outpitch Harang Wednesday. Then get our ace on the hill Thursday afternoon.

The Pedroia/Cano debate is RETARDED!!!!!!

Two totally different players. Pedroia won an MVP in a really weak year, while Cano finished 3rd last season in a tough year.

Cano has had better stats from a career standpoint. Pedroia home/road splits are pretty different career wise.

In reality, all Pedroia has on Cano is speed, OBP and an edge defensively. But he's a No. 2 hitter, so naturally it behooved him to have speed and an eye.

Cano bats 5th. Always has. It's his job to rake and hit for power. Look who bats after Cano -- Swisher, Posada etc. Look who has batted after Pedroia -- Youk, Ortiz, Manny, and now Agon.

It's pretty simple -- Red Sox fans would rather have Pedroia and Yankees fans would rather have Cano. Cano not speaking english well and having a bit of a nonchalant demeanor is what prevents him from being more of a media darling, which Pedey most certainly is.

IMHO, I wouldnt in a million years trade Cano for Pedroia straight up. Cano has 40-120 capability while hitting .300. You take that over 20 or more steals, 40 more walks and 5 less errors 7 days a week.

Cano's also had more at-bats, and speed, OBP, and defense are pretty important factors last I checked.

I think they're pretty similar players to be honest, in terms of how valuable they are to their teams. Do they do things the same way? Of course not. But I think it's an interesting debate as far as who is more important.

Cano is more talented can hit for average and has more power than Pedroia, he also has the sweetest swing since KGJr

Theyre both the same player in a way but Cano is the better hitter while Pedroia has better defense... Either way they both are having down years

I don't know how you can say Cano doesn't play the right way. Cano's style is nonchalant but it works.

Cano has been in the league for seven seasons and has yet to come even close to 40 homers. His career high is 29, and he's on pace for 26 this year. And that's playing as a lefty at Yankee Stadium. He's not a 40 home run guy and likely never will be.

Look at WAR from 2007 on:

Pedroia:
3.7
6.8
5.1
3.3 (half season)
6.7

Cano:
4.9
0.3
4.3
6.3
3.4

You might take your "40-120" upside every day of the week, but I don't. It's damn close between the two. Both great players. I hate the Yankees, but I also DESPISE everything Boston. I have no dog in the fight, but I'd lean towards Pedroia.

Pedroia for me. I never like players like Cano. Too many hot dog type plays instead of doing the right thing. Pedroia is a leader on the field and off. Until Cano does that, I'll take the slight dip in production for the leadership and hustle he displays.
