No, they played Liberty and gave up ten offensive points. Liberty's QB is the two-time defending conference player of the year and they also have two outstanding wide receivers.
Liberty plays in the Big South, a recent auto-berth add to the playoffs. Which they missed last year. Being the best of one of the worst isn't a real accomplishment. Outstanding is extremely, extremely relative when speaking about a team like Liberty.
In any case, the point still stands. Both Wake and State blow on defense.

Liberty has won the Big South four years in a row. And yes, they were outstanding receivers. They would easily be the two best receivers that State has.
Or it says that you know nothing about them. But yes, State does have weak receivers. Any other obvious facts you'd like to establish?
Listen, I've forgotten in a drunken haze more about the FCS than you'll ever know. I know Liberty, and I know they're nothing special. Let me guess...some ACC commentator said something about them during the game last week and you just regurgitated it in this thread? I've yet to even see you mention either of them by name. In any case, this is the world's biggest straw man argument.
Oh, and by the way, that Syracuse team beat Perennial CAA (that's FCS) doormat URI by 7 points.
The moral of this story is that both of these team that we saw today today blow, and I expect both to finish in the bottom half of that division.
ECU is one of those teams that always schedule tough opponents and usually plays them well, but then trips up in their conference schedule. I can never figure them out. I always keep thinking they'll take the next step and they never do.
Usually, something happens to the roster when it comes to ECU. Chris Johnson carries a team, goes to the NFL, ECU takes a step back. Holtz leaves for USF, team takes a step back to adjust. Harris carries a team, goes to the NFL, ECU takes a step back.
That can be said for many of the mediocre programs, no?
Great players eventually leave, usually early, and if the coaches are any good they've always got one foot out the door.
Exception - Boise State.

I don't know about all that, but a question was asked and I answered it to the best of knowledge. During the time Johnson played here, the entire offensive playbook was "Get the ball to him, let him work his magic, score". When he left, Harris took his place as the workhorse.
Then with Holtz leaving, obviously the team has to learn a whole new defensive system, etc. that comes with a new coach.
Hence why they can never seem to take that next step.
Actually, I'd pin it more on ECU playing several tough opponents, getting their roster worn down, and then not having the depth to fill in for the injuries that are bound to result and being 'surprised' by a team they should have beat easily.
That's the biggest difference you could see in the first two weeks this season, was the other teams had a lot of depth while ECU had basically the starters. Thus the second half collapses that we've seen lately.
Some amazing players like Chris Johnson or Dwayne Harris would be great, but even more important would be rebuilding with a couple of good recruiting classes. ECU was left without much last year when Holtz left. Things would have been tough even if he hadn't left when he did.
I'm not an avid follower of football, but how often do Quarterbacks get 400 yard games in the NFL?
A great season by a QB would be somewhere around 8-10 300 yard games with maybe 1-3 of those being 400 yard games.
Jimmy Clausen was also demoted to 3rd string. Not surprised. He sucked in the preseason and sucked last year.
Very disappointing end to a very entertaining game. Very confused as to why they targeted Nanee and Goodson at the end instead of Olsen/Shockey/Smith though.
Yeah, it was a good game for Newton. But clearly, he choked at the end. One completion on 4 tries in the final drive, and the one completion wasn't enough.
I'll add so I don't have AtG jumping down my throat.
