LA-Philly-Nash.

With Radulov gone, the Predators have an obvious need for good forwards. The Flyers need a potential top 4 defenseman for this year, and the Kings are in need of some major blueline help.

To PHI: Kevin Klein, MIN 2nd 09, LA 3rd 09

To LA: Greg Zanon, Lasse Kukkonen

To NSH: Joffrey Lupul, Derek Armstrong, CAL 3rd 09

PHI loses: Lupul, Lasse Kukkonen, CAL 3rd 09
PHI gets: Kevin Klein, MIN 2nd 09, LA 3rd 09

LA loses: Derek Armrstrong, LA 3rd 09
LA gets: Greg Zanon, Lasse Kukkonen

NSH loses: Kevin Klein, MIN 2nd 09, Greg Zanon
NSH gets: Joffrey Lupul, Derek Armstrong, CAL 3rd 09

Flame away

Philly gets hosed big time.

Take out the thirds, and its Kukkonen and Lupul for Klein and a second? rediculous. Klein is not this earth shattering prospect. He is a decent puck mover with good value, but kukkonen is a very capable defenseman as well and Lupul was nearly a ppg winger last year. Might be an improvement on the blue line but not a significant one and not without a risk, while we lose a guy capable of playing on a top scoring line.

Only thing I'm wandering about is whether Klein is good enough to give Lupul up for.. otherwise doesn't seem too bad.

NSH gets a steal with Lupul, while Philly gets hosed IMO. You are overrating Kevin Klein who's a fridge NHL/AHL player at this point and his top-4 potential isn't as likely as you might think to be reached.

Also, the Flyers have acquired plenty of 'project' top-4 D this summer, no need to give up Lupul for another one.

Now if Nashville would have held on Zidlicky for a bit longer instead of dealing him away for prospects, maybe you can switch Klein for Zidlicky and this seems more fair to me.

But too late. Looks good for LA though.

I don't think the Flyers really get hosed. They would have the room to get another forward, or sign someone like Shanahan for a year or something. I actually think it's a decent trade.

You think Klein and a couple picks is worth Lupul and Kukkonen and a pick? Really?

The Kings get two left shots that we just happen to lack...so I wouldn't mind this one too much...

Maybe the Kings can add Tukonen to sweeten the deal a bit...

Surpisingly good three-way proposal. Nothing audacious, addresses each teams' needs, and sticks to the KISS rule. I think it's weighed a little against Philly but otherwise very good.

Could it be balanced out by fine-tuning the selection of defensemen leaving Nashville? I'm highly intrigued for this trade to work for all the parties involved, that's something you don't see too often!

Kings are happy, Nashville's fine, Philly's angry.

Big no from Philly. Klein is not nearly a big enough upgrade to Kukkonen to justify the offense we'd be giving up.

Why is Kukkonen constantly in the doghouse in Philly?

Stevens doesn't like the guy for some reason, and he ends up in the press box, even though he is talented enough to be a regular 3rd pairing guy (and is paid as such).

The only downside for LA is it still needs to add more money to the cap. I don't think Philly gets enough for Lupul from Nas other then that all the other pieces of the trade are fairly balanced.

Looks good for LA, but I agree we probably need to give up another mid-round pick to Philly to even it out a bit more.

We don't need more picks. We need a better defenseman than Klein coming back to justify giving up Lupul and Kukkonen.

The Kings will even throw in Tukonen to Philly. Is that better?

I'd still be fine with that.
