No from Van... Hodgson isn't up for grabs and we have high hopes for Tanev.

Montreal says "no", Tinordi is the kind of d-man we are desperate for. He is developing well. Hodgson is the kind of player we already have (LeBlanc and Eller) within our system. Tanev does not have the upside necessary to get Tinordi. If either Hodgson or Tanev were bigger and more physical, it could be interesting to explore, but they are not much different than some prospects we already have. Tinordi is the kind of d-man we are desperate for.

I guess its a good deal then? Very inticing from a canucks standpoint.. Really liked Tinordi at the draft, hoped the canucks would trade up for him. I also enjoy Palushaj potential, hes got a great release and isnt afraid to hit and go into the corners. The 17th draft pick should still have some top talents on the board too. From a Canucks fan standpoint i take this deal, It seems that both JT and AP are no risk players and bottom out as top 4 d-man and top 9 winger with an upside.

Sold.

No chance. Why would the Canucks do this? Tanev is the teams best defensive prospect and had an Edler type rookie season. Potential top four dman and Hodgson is two years removed from winning the CHL player of the year. He missed one full season in development and in his first pro year he played on the extremely deep Canucks. A lot of people have given up on him but he's a future NHL captain and his skill level is very high. As soon as he figures out the the NHL and things dont seem so fast he's going to be a great one. Also look at the linemates he's played with. Stick him with Kesler or the Sedins and he puts way better numbers. You could already tell in his games in the NHL how smart of a player he is. He's a project. No need to rush him or deal him. In three years this deal would seem laughable.

While this is an enticing deal, I'd have to say no.
With the return of Erhoff, Bieksa, and Salo being unknowns right now, it is very possible that Tanev will stick with the big club next year being the #6 defenseman.
If the Canucks were in a state of rebuild, then they just might do this.
However, this is not the case, and whether the Canucks wins the Stanley Cup this year or not, they could very well be competing for the Cup again next year with these two players becoming full-time roster players.

Montreal doesn't need Hodgson...we have enough center : Gomez-Plekanec-Eller-Desharnais-Leblanc.

I wouldn't do it from the Habs side of it. Rather just wait and see what we have in Tinordi.
